Planned Arrest of Some APC Loyalist by Oyo Government
It has been brought to our notice that there has been alleged plans by Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and his SSG, Mrs Adeosun, to get some APC loyalists (names withheld) arrested by the Department of State Security, DSS, on trumped up charges.
According to the sources who preferred to claim anonymity, it was alleged that the APC loyalists were pencilled down for arrest by DSS over their constructive criticisms and vibrant opposition to the state government’s badly planned and executed policies and programmes.
We register our displeasure at this unfortunate allegations of planned persecution of members of the opposition. It’s worthy to recall that the immediate past administration in Oyo state faced vitriolic attacks from the opposition but it was never recorded that the past administration used security agents to oppress or persecute any member of the opposition. We, therefore, find this development unfortunate.
By this press release, we are notifying the public of the alleged plans by the state government to start persecuting members of the opposition, especially those of the APC stock.
