Oyo Ministerial Nomination, My Concerns | By Monsuru Adeyemo “Socrates”
Oyo Ministerial Nomination, My Concerns | By Monsuru Adeyemo “Socrates”.
As a committed and financial member of Oyo APC, I am concerned and interested in “Oyo-State Ministerial Nomination”.
Of course, as a grassroots politician, I am interested in the person and personae of the nominee(s), likewise his experiences, depths and capacities, to carry our people, at local levels, along. The party members at grassroots levels, who mostly know nobody are our support base and they have, mostly, been short-changed. They have really passed through a lot.
Yes, as a media man, I am interested in the capabilities and magnanimity of our would-be ministerial nominee(s). He must be the person that has wherewithal, and who is ready to carry along, the media professionals and media enthusiasts in our great party. He must be able to carry them along, irrespective of their tendencies or leanings, especially, those that have been with our great party since its glorious days and back to the days of its challenges – They do move from one traditional media house to another, almost everyday; They burn data bought by their own money, almost every minute. They have done wonderfully well, to redeem the image of our great party, and they had major inputs in the victories that we are all laying claim on, at state and national levels.
Definitely, as a struggles-tested students union veteran, I am concerned and I have interest in the personality and great mindedness of the would-be ministerial nominee(s). He must be a lover of youth and development enthusiast, who passionately prioritises human capital development. Beyond Eurocentric youth broadband, our young minds (From 18 – 50 years+,”Afrocentric Youth broadband”) have potentials, and who will lead the agenda of developing these potentials except “Oyo Minister”, especially, when now that Oyo APC currently has no sitting governor, and the party has really been polarised. Yes, we need, not only brilliant head as “Minister” but also a great mind who is mentally resourceful, deep, able and capable to unite the party and develop our people, without discriminating against them, either based on their political tendencies, Ideological leanings, different perspectives, racial backgrounds, individual differences, gender identities or religious beliefs.
Certainly, as a pro-people thinker and humanitarian, I am passionate and concerned. We need an experienced, charismatic and influential party man, who can genuinely rebuild our party and meritoriously serve good people of Oyo-State. Progressive party must come back to winning ways and Oyo masses must truly experience dividends of democracy, especially, those that do come from federal government.
If truly progressivism is a politics in favour of modern methods, new ideas and positive changes, and it is. We need a “progressive” politician who technically and organically understands these key words and concepts that “Progressivism” entails.
While paying homage to His Excellency’s prerogative powers, but for the sake of humanity, progressivism and development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs to have mercy on Oyo APC, by choosing the man “who Sabi”. We need a typical helmsman that legendary Socrates describes as “The Man Who Knows”, and whom Socrates’ ingenious student, Plato likened to a Philosopher-king that must rule an ideal state, as “Minister” from the Pacesetter State, in Federal Executive Council(FEC). We need an empathetic leader that is knowledgeable of what Oyo APC needs to be formidable, and also what Oyo State needs to progress, likewise Nigeria, at large. Plato said and I quote,“The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world.”… An important life lesson I have learnt is that the highest value one can offer as a leader is to set aside ego and listen deeply to understand another person . So, we need such “empathic” and “progressive” leader that can lead us to promised land.
