Oyo: Name The Banker Responsible for Purportedly Missing N13 Billion – Ex-Gov Ajimobi’s Aide, Adekanmbi Dares Makinde.

Former Commissioner for Finance and Oyo South Senatorial Hopeful, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Honourable ‘Bimbo Adekanmbi has responded to corruption allegations levelled, by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, regarding N7b Paris Club Refunds from 2017 and another N13b purpotedly missing in a Commercial Bank in 2014, against past administration.

Makinde had earlier named a Company as being the brain behind the missing Paris Club refund and some uncompleted Roads, but he did not mention the name of an “official of a Commercial Bank” behind the missing N13b from 2014.

Adekanmbi advised Engr Makinde to unveil the identity of such “official of the Commercial Bank” the same way he named the Company involved in the Paris Club monies that was purpotedly moved to the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSTROMA) and stolen, if he has facts and figures rather than name callings.

Former Deputy Chief of Staff(DCoS), Adekanmbi stated this while featuring, as a guest, on a radio show hosted by the phenomenal Edmund Obilo on Saturday. He went further to debunk the allegations of fraud and financial misappropriation leveled against the previous administration, and urged Governor Seyi Makinde to imbibe the culture of regularly putting facts and names to his claims. He asserted that the burden of proof is on Mr Governor.

Governor Seyi Makinde had alleged the Abiola Ajimobi led government of depositing a certain fund totalling N7Billion into OYSTROMA even when the Agency did not have a history of receiving such a huge fund. He further accused the previous government of hurriedly withdrawing the same within the span of one year and put on an invisible project.

But in a swift response to the allegations, the internationally trained forensic Accountant, Adekanmbi countered the allegations and argued that Budgets voted to MDA’s are justified and defended prior to funds allocation and that contractors have a responsibility to carry out projects.

As to the missing N13b from 2014, he reiterated it and charged Makinde to name the banker who oversaw the disappearance of the money in question, if there is any and save the state from needless assumptions.

Adekanmbi assured Makinde of his readiness and availability, should he needs clarifications on any of finances of the past administration, especially, during the period he held sway as finance commissioner, in the state.
