Oyo North 2023: Oke-Ogun Should Produce Next Senator, We’re Yet to Endorse Anybody – ‘Oke-Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum’ Insists
“OKE-OGUN INDIGENOUS YOUTHS SOLIDARITY FORUM, INSISTS OKE-OGUN SHOULD PRODUCE NEXT SENATOR, WE DID NOT ENDORSE ANYBODY YET”.
If none of the political parties would be retrospective enough to concede the gubernatorial tickets to our Oke-Ogun patriots, the Oke-Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum (OIYSF) wish to again, reiterate our resolve, that, as a mouthpiece of the youths and the good people of Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State, we insist that the next senator to represent the Oyo North senatorial district, come 2023 shall be an indigene of any of the 10 Local Governments of the zone and not Ogbomoso again, after 8 years of stewardship by the distinguished Senator Abdul-Fatai Buhari.
This resolve is in line with the democratic spirit of representative decency, fairness, equity and justice. The Oke-Ogun region has 10 out of the 13 Local Governments that make up the senatorial district. The region is endowed with natural and human resources sufficient enough to represent the district at the upper legislative chamber of the national assembly. We find it rather delusional, deceptive, unfair, humiliating, unacceptable and democratically illogical that Ogbomoso, with only 3 Local Governments will dominate an entire region with 10 Local Governments areas, larger population with landmass, and with sufficiently credible and capable indigenes to represent the district at the National Assembly.
We however like to put the record straight that while we move on with our fundamentally legitimate agitation, we did not at any point before, during and after our press briefing held in Saki on Saturday, 21st May, 2022, endorse, nor mobilize support for anyone at that, as erroneously reported in the media. We identify with all our patriots from Oke-Ogun. The press conference in Saki was to drive home our agenda and not to promote an individual aspirant at this premature stage. We refer the public to Radio Nigeria and other credible news media for the undistorted report of the event. In attendance at the press conference were other aspirants such as, Hon. Samson Ogunbode, Hon. (Mrs.) Adebola Adeboyin, Hon. Saheed Alaran and other notable stakeholders across Oke-Ogun. In due course and after due consultations of all that matter in Oke-Ogun, we shall communicate the minds of our people to the public, having put into consideration, the profile, pedigree, credibility and antecidents of such servant and patriot that the good people of Oke-Ogun shall delegate with this all-important assignment to the upper legislative chamber of the national assembly.
We urge our brothers from Ogbomoso to, in the spirit of fairness, equity, justice, brotherhood, and mutual respect, allow Oke-Ogun to produce the next senator for Oyo North Senatorial District.
Yiyo ekun Oke-Ogun, t’ojo ko o !
Signed:
Comrade Ojedokun Jonathan (National President)
Comrade Ibrahim Gbadamosi (National Secretary)
Comrade Gbadmus Adesola.
