Oyo PVAN Decides: Ajibola Munir Emerges As New Association’s Governor, Assures Good Governance(PHOTOS).

As part of their effort to bring about positive change and put their association in a formidable shape, members of the Oyo State Chapter of the Professional Videographers of Nigeria(PVAN) have, conducted their election for the state executives, who will steer the affairs of the association for the next 3 years today April 25 at Mapo Hall, Mapo Hill, in Ibadan.
While addressing the association’s members, the Chairman of the Professional Videographers Association of Nigeria Electoral Committee(PVANEC), Asiwaju Yemi Yussuf hinted that all hands should be on deck.”Any delegates from any Local government who did not meet the requirements will not be accredited. We are expecting 90 delegates. While their seats will be arranged by 10 in a row. Only delegates will have access to the podium while voting commences. As a contestant, what you need to present first is the certificate you received in yesterday seminar. All accredited delegates will receive a tag. The PVAN leaders will serve as observers. Votes will be counted after the election. We’re ready to listen to any observation. Anybody that owes this association won’t be allowed to vote. Kudos to Local Government executives, because we use LG funds to run state elections. Any local government that presents a non-member as delegate will be disqualified and nobody should display his or her ballot paper”,he urged.
As reported by this newspaper correspondent that covered the event, the accreditation process commenced around 11:30 am.”The interesting part of it is that 3 doubtful delegates were asked by the PVANEC Chairman to operate a camera, which they did successfully. 9 Local Governments participated in the process. They are: Akorede LCDA, NTA Zone, Ibadan Southeast, Ibadan Southwest, Ibadan South-South LCDA, Ibadan North and Ido LG. They all presented 10 delegates each while Ibadan North East and Ibadan NorthWest presented 9 delegates each, that made it a total number of 88 delegates duly accredited. The PVANEC Chairman also enlightened and educated the delegates on how to cast their votes in order to prevent void votes. Offices of the Social secretary I & II, Auditor, PRO External, Chief PRO, Financial Secretary II, Assistant Secretary I, Financial Secretary I and Executive Secretary all have a candidate contested to the office. The election became competitive and interesting when the election to the office of the Treasurer, Deputy Governor II, Deputy Governor I and Governor began. Since they have more than a contestant vying for these positions. The election commenced around 12:45 pm and lasted until 3pm. While counting of results lasted from 3:10 pm to 5:30pm
While announcing the results, PVANEC Chairman, said,”The only Contestant for the office of Social Secretary II, Ogunrinde Adesoji Emmanuel did not meet two-thirds of the total vote casted, having scored 53 votes and his election was hereby nullified. PVAN Olunfewa Lateef polled 83 votes and was declared as the new Financial Secretary II of the association. Having polled 80 votes, PVAN Olalekan Oganla was also declared as the new Assistant Secretary I. PVAN Oladapo Olumide Sunday polled 63 and was declared as the new PRO (External). Ganiyu Latifah Abimbola who contested for the position of Auditor scored 81 votes and was declared winner. Azeez Kabir Abidemi was also declared as the new Financial Secretary I, having polled 75 votes. PVAN Asake Olusola emerges as the new Executive Secretary with 85 votes. PVAN Adebayo Olugbemiga who contested for the position of the Chief PRO polled 74 votes.
“Odubo Tosin who scored 36 votes lost honourarily to Bamigbayan Taofeek that polled 52 votes and was declared as the new Treasurer of the association. In the race for the position of Deputy Governor II. Yussuf Okekehinde defeated Bashiru Abdul Wasiu with 51 to 37 votes. Adeleke Ademola emerged as Deputy Governor I, having defeated AbdulAfeez Salaudeen with 52 – 36 votes.
PVAN Munir Ajibola from Ibadan South West Local Government written his name in history as the new PVAN Governor having polled 53 votes to defeat his close rival, Oyedokun Oyelowo Gabriel who scored 34 votes.
While addressing the press, the newly elected PVAN Governor, Munir Ajibola noted that,”This is the new dawn and the positive change is here. Our administration will restore the lost glory of PVAN, we will reconcile all aggrieved members across the State. We will address all the issues and challenges of this association and we will work together with all the leaders, executives and members for the sustainability and progress of our association, he added.
