Oyo: Senator Akintunde Champions Bill to Upgrade Survey School to Varsity
Senator Akintunde presents bill for upgrade of Federal School of Survey to Federal University of Geomatics.
The bill seeking the upgrade of Federal School of Survey, Oyo to a Federal University of Geomatics has been presented at the Senate.
The bill presented by Dr. Yunus Akintunde the Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District at the Senate passed through the first reading at the Senate plenary held today on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 and was unanimously approved for further readings and due process at the Senate with assurances and hopes for final passage, then presidential ascent and implementation in earnest.
In a release made available to the press by Kunle Olatunji the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Yunus Akintunde, during the session he informed members on the benefits of this upgrade initiative towards the national urban renewal programs where Geomatic studies and research functions will be very relevant and useful.
“The institution which presently ranks as the first and the best in Africa has a rich history of producing experienced professionals in the field of Survey and other related Geomatics studies which if upgraded to the Federal University status will then be able to engage in more functional and advanced academic and professional programs to the zenith in relevant fields of study”.
“As our Nation’s real estate sector and infrastructure expansion is experiencing rapid growth and development, also in anticipation of enhancement quite purposeful, no doubt institutional frameworks will require us to focus on human capacity development and disciplines that will support the sector.
“This upgrade of the current Federal School of Survey to the Federal University of Geomatics status will certainly be a welcome development.
