Oyo South 2023: CCII Must Stay off Partisan Politics, Be An Unbiased Umpire to Maintain Its Relevance – APC Chieftain, Hon Lekan Afuye Advises.

Former Chairman of the 11 Local Government Areas and 14 Local Council Development Areas(LCDA’s) in Ibadan Land, Honourable Abdul-Rasheed Lekan Afuye has appealed to thr Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes(CCII) to stay of partisan politics, as it has been rumoured that the body is scheming for a particular aspirant, as their favourite aspirant, to emerge as standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, in Oyo South Senatorial District, come 2023.

Hon. Afuye charged the body, CCII to be an unbiased umpire and to foster unity among all Ibadan descendants vying for political offices, in 2023. He emphasized that this is the best way that the body, CCII can maintain its relevance.

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes is an umbrella body for all the socio-cultural societies and clubs of Ibadan extraction both at home and in the diaspora. It is also the umbrella body for all Ibadan descendants, locally and globally.

In a release titled,”CCII Must Stay off Partisan Politics, And It Should Be An Unbiased Body to Maintain Its Relevance”, the former Ibadan North East Council Gaffer, Hon. Afuye, stated that;”Our attention has been drawn to the body’s recent political activities where the CCII is scheming to project a particular ‘Omo Ibadan’ against another ‘Omo Ibadan’ for a particular post in the just concluded party congress. Most recent is the body’s scheming for Senator Kola Balogun against other Ibadan descendants, aspirants. What are they turning themselves into? Valid evidence is available to prove this allegation, and they are giving us the impression that the body is selling his integrity as against the principle upon which it is founded. Their respect and relevance are fast eroding because of this partisan politics. Advisably, the body, CCII should not be seen as a PDP or APC favorite but it should rather stand as an unbiased umpire, a unifying body, that should be saddled with the sole responsibility of maintaining love, peace and unity among Ibadan indigenes and Oyo state, in general. CCII should not engage in dirty politics of one-sidedness . I strongly advise the President-General of the CCII to come clean on political issues, for history to be kind to him and his executives.

As reliably gathered by this Newspaper, Africano Trumpeters, among eight APC Oyo South Senatorial aspirants invited by CCII yesterday to Olubadan’s palace, to foist a particular aspirant on others, it was only three (name withheld) attended the meeting. Meanwhile, this medium can authoritatively, report that His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and an elder brother to the incumbent Oyo South Senator, Dr Kola Balogun remains nonpartisan and unbiased, on the issue, as Kabiesi fostered unity, among all aspirants, irrespective of their political leanings or parties, and he stated that His Majesty remains father of all.
