Oyo South: ‘Bimbo Adekanmbi, A Chartered Accountant With Proof !! By Adegbola Oluwaseun “Triple Tee”.
The 2023 political battle in Oyo State will begin from Oyo South Senatorial district. This is so for a number of reasons. First Oyo South accounted for about 33% of the total voting population of Oyo state, which then implies one in every three voters resides here. Second, since the turn of the fourth republic the district has gone ahead to produce four of the five former and serving governors of Oyo state with the exemption of Late former Governor Alao Akala. In retrospect, two former Senators from Oyo South proceeded to rule the state as governor. No serious political party who understands the dynamics of Oyo politics would pay tokenism with political developments in the district. It is not a testing ground for political toddlers, infant radicals and cosset neophytes.
On current political estimates, the district is currently agog. Several pretenders and few contenders are showing strength. For some it is a battle of purpose, wit and pedigree. For others it is a feudal game where several useful subjects are reduced to a serf, trimmed to size and compelled to act on the authority of the feudal lord who holds sway. Evidently, there are equal contenders on both divides. It takes an honest political expedition to separate the wheat from the chaff.
On this journey, I found Bimbo Adekanmbi (BIMADEK). He is a proven accountant with more. He did not hide his credentials. His ascension to greatness is traceable. He is a sound Business Engineer and Administrator with coruscate intellect. He ran a Consultancy that provided Management Consulting and Business solutions across Fortune 500 Companies, the Public Sector, the Academic and Professional community, where it was well known that “if it’s broken down and you cannot fix it, call Abim!”
Bimadek bestrides Oyo South political space like a colossus, building bridges and connecting useful dots. He understands his history and does not require a merchant to lead him to his father’s house. Getting involved requires the awareness of purpose. You cannot have involvement and inclusiveness with questionable docket, piggy identity and a mind of blagging. Involvement is working with the people as against working for them. Adekanmbi’s biggest strength is human relationships. He connects with the least of his would-be Constituents in the most applaudable way. His brands of politics relate to solutions. In 2019, he had a first ever collaboration with the Technical University Ibadan and sponsored 100 Beneficiaries on the Youth Empowerment and Contract Recruitment Programme, providing seed funding at the end. He has offered over 300 UTME forms annually for the past 3 years. The Programme is unique as it also offers free Tuition, free Mock Exam and a Scholarship to any Federal University of choice for the best student in each LG in Ibadan and Ibarapa.
He has also recently introduced a Bursary Scheme for students in Tertiary Institutions in Ibadan and Ibarapa.
All of Adekanmbi’s Youth Programmes are targeted at brilliant, but indigent students. His core objective is to build a pool of youth that can face the challenges of the current times and that can positively impact society. He did not just get here. He basically paid his dues. Oyo South Senatorial district will never be a reward for clanship and those with mutilated currency. In the end only Hard Work, purpose and capacity will count. This is the BIMADEK logic.
