Oyo South: I Want to See Many World Class Achievers Emerging from Pacesetter State – Says ‘Bimbo Adekanmbi As He Dazzles Ibadan, Ibarapa Students With Bursary Awards(PHOTOS).

Former Finance Commissioner and a front line Oyo South Senatorial Hopeful, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), come 2023, Honourable Abimbola Adekanmbi has stated that the core interest of his pro-people programmes is having many world-class achievers, of Oyo-State origin, emerging on global stage and recording excellence of international standard .”We’re not only empowering young minds, especially, students but we’re also mentoring them to become the best of the best in the world. We’re grooming youths capable of being among the highest class, internationally,” he reiterated.

Hon. Adekanmbi stated this while giving bursary awards to indigent but brilliant students, selected across the tertiary institutions of learning, in the Senatorial District, at an event which took place today at his campaign office, in Ibadan.

In his opening speech, Adekanmbi stated that,”Before I start making any remarks, firstly,I thank God for the grace he gave us all to be here, today. I, also, lauded my team and think tank for their initiatives and efforts. I appreciate you all and I greet everybody here present”.

“Yes, I’m a politician but we didn’t make this programme completely, a political one, in order to give everybody opportunities to benefit from it, irrespective of their political learning or religious belief. I hold opinion that the more we extend opportunities, the more we disabuse illicit mindsets of some youth, towards the theories of making money.

“Of course, we have youth that are very brilliant and we must encourage them. We set standards for the bursary and the standard is merit. Irrespective of the beneficiaries’ creed and political affiliations, they are not chosen, based on sentiment but they’re considered on academic excellence. The beneficiaries are first class students chosen on merits of 3.5 CGPA.

“Even, today, if excellence is the only thing we achieve discussing, here, we will be very happy. At least, it will reduce ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ mentality and ritualist disposition among youth.

“In the past, we’ve been organising many youth and students – friendly programmes. We’ve been giving hundreds of students scholarship awards to Technical Universities. Annually, we give JAMB forms and we sponsor successful applicants with full scholarships. Meanwhile, to put this together, we approached tertiary institutions in Oyo South and singled out first class students(Youth). It’s not only about giving out bursary awards but also, it’s about showcasing serious, cultured and brilliant students, from Oyo State, to the world.

While explaining criteria chosen to invite people to grace the presentation event, Adekanmbi further said that,”This mummy here, Hon. Mrs Aderinto is a politician, but she is not here based on politics, but she is here based on being proud of her, for having two children at Technical University who recorded above 4.00 CGPA….Mr Sunday Adewuyi is also here as a proud father of Alexandra who is also a first class student at the same Technical University.

While reiterating excellence, Adekanmbi said,”When Bill Gate came to Nigeria, he said that Nigeria GDP is too small and we need youth that are capable to hit the ground running and add values, because, even, if foreign companies come, they will still need capable hands who’re intelligent and brilliant youth than can man those companies.

Adekanmbi maintained that he does not seek, to only empower, but, also, he seeks to mentor and celebrate young achievers.”I want to see many of the world best from Oyo-State making good waves, on global stage”,he enthused.

“Our Youth and Students! Go out there to be the ambassadors of excellence. I’m happy that we’re competing for academic excellence, here today,” Adekanmbi revealed.

While giving her remarks, one of the parents, Hon.(Mrs) Aderinto stated that,”We thank Hon.Adekambi for these rare supports and may God, always, grant his heart desires.

Another parent, Mr Adewuyi Sunday said,”Givers never lack. Hon.Adekanmbi! You shall not lack..Hon. Adekanmbi has done a lot and let’s all pray for him. God will grant your heart desires, in the mighty name of Jesus.

The National President of Federation of Ibadan Students Union(FIBSU), Aare Fakolade Aanu-Oluwapo, a student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, lauded Adekanmbi and encouraged him to remain pro-youth and students.

In his remarks, Aare Egbe Omo Ajorosun Club, Alhaji Abiola Alli maintained that,”I’m happy that our today’s benefactor, Hon. Adekanmbi is an active and responsible member of Omo Ajorosun Club. He has distinguished himself in all positions of authority that he has previously held, so, let’s encourage him to do more by pushing him forward.

“What he is doing here today is what can bring progress to Ibadan land. Many youth have ideas and they are brilliant but they have no financial strengths to be able to fully explore their ingenuity. So, we thank people like Hon. Adekanmbi that is actively financing and supporting masses, especially, young minds.

“Ibadan is a city of great men and women who are known for valour, greatness, gallantry, courage and excellence. Hon. Adekanmbi! Thank you for being a true son of Ibadan Land and more power to your elbow”,he prayed.

While joining Hon. Adekanmbi to present the bursary awards, Abiodun Alli said,”I congratulate youth because youth own tomorrow. What is given here today is not only to support us but also to encourage us. Omo Ajorosun is neither political nor religious. If he is not responsible and responsive, I will not be here. This is humanity that supersedes politics. Once again, thank you Hon. Adekanmbi and may God grant your heart desires.

In his remarks, Hon. Ogundiwin, saluted Hon. Adekambi for prioritising youth and students’ interests. “He’s a special breed ‘politician’. He always put people first and let’s also always encourage him to do more, by supporting his political agenda, come 2023.

In his remarks, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Omotosho Olusola David from Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU),Ile-Ife, stated that,”I want to appreciate our benefactor, Hon. Adekanmbi. Sir, we celebrate you and this is a very good initiative. Thank you, sir.

In her remarks, another beneficiary, Miss Ayoade Dolapo from University of Ibadan(UI) stated that, “This a giant stride taken to reward excellence. It’s also an exemplary programme to encourage students to remain committed, academically, and come out in flying colour. Thank you, sir, Hon. Adekanmbi.

In his closing remarks, a Federal Government Appointee and Member, Oyo State House of Assembly Hopeful, Hon. Ishola Akeem Adetoyese stated,”that no one, even, government has ever paid 20,000Naira bursary, so, let it be on records that Hon. Adekanmbi has done what Napoleon Bonaparte could not do. Let’s also be reassured that someone that is doing this without having political office will do more if we encourage him to lead us in Oyo South, come 2023.
