It was a remarkable event when former Secretary to the State Government(SSG) and a front line Senatorial Hopeful, Akin Olajide visited the leadership of his party, All Progressives Congress(APC), in Ayete, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, in Ibarapa zone, of Oyo-State.”APC Leaders and members trooped out en masse to receive Akin Olajide and his supporters, today, at Africa Primary School, Ayete”, Afeez Bello reported.
While addressing the teeming APC stalwarts who gathered to welcome him to the zone, Olajide appreciated them for their love and stated that,”Indeed, I’m really happy to be here today and I appreciate your love and supports….. And may I humbly urge that we should support people on merits but not on sentiments. Let’s shun religious and regional discriminations. Irrespective of our differences, we are all one and I promise, I will never let you down if the mandate is given. Olajide noted that Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was the first leader, a southern Christian, who established pilgrim board for Muslims in Nigeria. “I will not cheat Ibarapa people”,he reiterated.
In his remarks, Baba Pa Ajayi lauded Akin Olajide for his visit and urged him to prioritise progress of Ibarapa, if mandate is later given to him. Ajayi advised Olajide to facilitate social infrastructures to Ibarapa and put welfare of the party members, first, if he later bags the ticket of APC and represents the senatorial district.
In his own remarks, Oketobo JP maintained that what Olajide told the Ibarapa people are in line with Ibarapa ideologies. He emphasized that no tertiary institution in Ayete except the one that Hon Ojuawo facilitated for Igangan.”We, Ibarapa people will never forget you if you facilitate tertiary institution(s) to Ayete and other Areas in Ibarapa. Ibarapa people are not betrayers. We reciprocate goodness with goodness “, he added.
While speaking, Deacon Ayanleke encouraged Olajide to remain truthful to his campaign manifestos. He reminisced and lamented that the previous senators in Oyo South since 1999 marginalized Ibarapa too much and advised Olajide to fulfill his promises when elected.
