The staffers of the Oyo State Community Skill Acquisition Centre, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo-State have solicited for the intervention of the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over their unpaid salaries, totalling twenty-one months, by the authorities of the Ibadan North Local Government.

In their letter of appeal to Governor Makinde, the management of the centre lamented its hurdles over the unpaid salaries to their staffers and sought for the intervention of the governor.

“The entire staff of the above named centre are using this medium to appeal to our indefatigable, amiable and downtrodden-supporter governor to save us from starvation, hunger and agony bestowed on us by the authority of Ibadan North Local Government for owing us twenty-one months salaries despite discharging our duties appropriately” the statement reads in part”.

The Centre was established alongside seven others by synergy between Federal Government Agencies and Oyo State Government in 2003 with a sole responsibility of training youth in various skills which will go a long way in poverty eradication in the society.

After its establishment in 2003, the Federal Government paid the first six months salaries of the workers of the centre. Then, the State Government took over the control of the centre and salaries were paid excellently well between that time and 2008. Payment of salaries became problematic the moment the State Government transferred the responsibility of salary payment to the Local Government.
