Oyo: Take Us Back to 2019, Enough Is Enough !! By Popoola Hassan.
I doubt if the self acclaimed People’s Governor is alive, hale and hearty today. No reasonable man will ever live to witness unfavorable atmosphere in his governing state and be happy and shouting to the megaphone all because of street credibility and populism style of leadership.
As at May 29, 2011, a new dawn of governance was experienced where millions of Oyo State residents were so much excited and grateful for the change in government. Hopes were returned, peace was restored and businesses came to live during the era.
The main essence of government is to provide security to lives and properties, provide enabling environment for businesses and investments and most importantly, make policies and programs that will help citizens to progress in their chosen career and life engagements.
The level of insecurities in Oyo state today has gotten to the peak of highest order. People were reportedly killed on a daily basis, businesses are being destroyed, investors are being disappointed and many unfavorable conditions have also been recorded.
During the Great Senator Abiola Ajimobi regime, the pace setter state was one of the most peaceful and a conducive place to live in. In terms of developmental projects, quality of leadership and governance, peaceful coexistence amongst different tribes and religions were all superb and amazing.
On many occasions and instances, Governor Seyi Makinde has failed and yet, refuse to take the bull by the horn. It’s time to summon all stakeholders in the state for security meetings and chat a way forward to the ravaging menace of insecurity in the state.
There’s no better time to learn from Former Governor security templates for guidance and safety of our people’s lives from mayhem of these hoodlums and touts than now. Of what contribution is the PMS to the state revenue, peace and development?
We cannot continue to live like this. Enough is enough.
