Perpetrators of Igangan Massacre Must Not Go Unpunished – NANS Charges Makinde, Buhari.

National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) has condemned it, in totality, the early hours attack and killings in Igangan town of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo state by the armed bandits who laid siege on the town.

The Students’ body charged the Federal Government under the watch of President Muhammad Buhari and the Oyo State Government under the watch of Engr Seyi Makinde to to nib the rising insecurity in the Land in bud and to ensure that the perpetrators of the massacre are brought to book.

The NANS Southwest Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman made this call, in a statement made available, today, to the newsmen, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

It would be recalled that Igangan was on the late hours of Saturday reportedly attacked by gunmen who allegedly murdered over 20 persons, set buildings and properties ablaze.

Comrade Uthman in the statement expressed sadness over the attack, describing it as pathetic.

He stressed, “the invasion and killings in Igangan town of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State is so pathetic as this is a local government that houses one of the state tertiary institution in Oyo State.”

The Deputy Coordinator described the brutal murder and invasion as a pathetic one while he calls on the National Security Agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book in order to serve as deterrent to others.

Oladimeji further maintained that,” it is high time for Federal Government and Oyo State Government respectively led by Engr Seyi Makinde and President Muhammad Buhari to rise up to the challenge. It is sad and inhumane waking up to such heart wrecking news.

“The perpetrators of Igangan massacre must not go unpunished. The Oyo State Governor must do everything humanly possible within the coffers of the law to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.

“On behalf of the leadership of the students body, I condemn in totality this criminal activitiy as this unfortunate incident is highly condemnable and poses a serious threat to our collective existence as a people.

“While calling for calm, I join all well-meaning Nigerian Students in the State to be law abiding and continue to pray for the deceased.

“I also commiserate with families of those who lost their loved ones in the sad attack. I share in the grief of those whose lands and properties were destroyed, the palace of Asigangan and others”, he concluded.
