PHILANTHROPY: Sen Sharafadeen Alli Empowers Oyo FIDA with Bus Donation(PHOTOS)
Senator Sarafa Allí, a distinguished senator representing the good people of Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has recently gifted a bus to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Oyo State Chapter. The donation of the bus, which was handed over to the association on Monday, September 25, 2023, during a brief event at the senator’s residence in Ibadan, has been lauded by members of FIDA in the state.
Senator Sarafa Allí has proved to be a prominent philanthropist who is passionate about the development of his constituents and the state at large. His donation of a Toyota Sienna bus to FIDA, as part of his contributions towards supporting the association to achieve its set objectives and carry out its statutory functions, sends a clear message to all concerning his dedication to the empowerment of women and youths in the society.
FIDA, as an organisation, has been actively involved in several laudable programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of women, children, and vulnerable persons in the society. The association has been instrumental in several cases involving women and children, particularly in cases of violence against them.
This noble gesture of Senator Sarafa Allí could not have come at a better time, considering the critical roles that FIDA plays in the society, especially in the current times where issues of violence and other forms of discrimination against women and children are on the increase. The donation of the bus will aid FIDA members in reaching out to women and children in rural communities, who are often the most vulnerable.
Mrs. Shola Sulaimon, the chairperson, said in her remarks that Senator Sarafa Alli’s donation of a bus to FIDA (Oyo State Chapter) is an admirable contribution towards the upliftment of women and children in the state. She lauded the senator’s dedication to the empowerment of women and youths in general, and she opined that it should serve as an inspiration to other political leaders in the state to find tangible ways of supporting and promoting the welfare of citizens.
The Senator, in his response, said he appreciates the great work FIDA is doing; the gift of the bus is to encourage them. As a lawyer, he sees himself as a male member of FIDA. He also advised that, as FIDA is fighting for women against bullish men, they should also encourage women to be peaceful and less emotional to avoid violence with men.
The bus was presented in the presence of 18 members of FIDA and some members of the distinguished senator’s office.
