PHOTOS: APC Southwest Leaders Reaffirm Support for President Tinubu’s Administration, Outline Development Agenda

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest region has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pledging to collaborate in efforts to revitalise Nigeria’s economy and ensure regional development.

This resolution came during a high-profile meeting at the Eko Hotel and Suites, attended by governors, National Assembly members, former governors, party elders, stakeholders, and members from Southwest.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, on Saturday October 5, 2025, the leaders commended President Tinubu for his initiatives to liberalise the Nigerian economy and praised the National Assembly for passing the Southwest Development Commission Bill, which aims to drive the socio-economic advancement of the region.

The governors of the Southwest were also lauded for their progressive initiatives and accomplishments within their respective states.

Key resolutions from the meeting include:

Support for President Tinubu’s Administration: The Southwest Caucus resolved to continue supporting President Tinubu’s efforts to revamp the economy and position Nigeria on a path to prosperity.

Regular Meetings: It was agreed that party structures at all levels should hold regular meetings, with the Southwest Assembly convening at least on a quarterly basis to ensure sustained engagement.

Collaboration Between Officials and Party Structures: Continuous interaction between elected and appointed officials from the zone and party structures was emphasized to foster strong governance and alignment of goals.

Formation of a High-Powered Committee: A committee will be established to evaluate party activities in the region, ensuring that the administration’s promises to the people are fulfilled.

Youth and Women Engagement: The leaders stressed the importance of regularly engaging youth and women in party activities, ensuring their inclusion in governance and development processes.

Preparation for Future Elections: Deliberate and strategic plans are to be put in place ahead of future elections to ensure the party’s continued success.

Upholding the Vision of Founding Fathers: The Southwest leaders committed to sustaining the dreams and vision of the region’s founding fathers, who were instrumental in the region’s historic achievements.

Strategic Communication: The need for improved communication at all levels to inform the public about the administration’s achievements was highlighted.

Establishment of a Zonal Secretariat: The party will set up a functional zonal secretariat to streamline operational management and support.

Data Management: The integration of data collection and management into party operations was identified as a critical factor in ensuring effective governance.

Focus on Regional Development: Priority will be given to investment in agriculture, food security, youth and women empowerment, and job creation as part of the regional development agenda.

The meeting emphasised the importance of these initiatives for the continued progress of the Southwest region and for sustaining the excellence for which the zone is known.
