The Hooding event for College of Science and Technology of Covenant University has come and gone but its memory will linger on the minds of graduands, staff and faculty members of one of the best citadels of learning in Nigeria, Covenant University.
The guest speaker, Honourable Bimbo Kolade began his lecture on a lighter note pointing out that,”By virtue of being seated among eminent professors and scholars, he is now a professor by association. This statement stirred up the atmosphere for the task of the day.
The lecture tittled “Transition from Student To Professional: Setting High Expectations”.
Former Oyo state Commissioner, and current Federal Comissioner representing the state under the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Abuja, Hon. Kolade while delivering his lecture gave a robust foundation as he cited illustrations of how things are now changing in the contemporary world as against to what used to hold in the past.
Kolade stressed the need for Self Development as a needed tool to savage the current realities. He emphasized that,”Degrees are good to behold. Meanwhile, other professional skills you have in whatever field of endeavor have to distinguish you from others”.
The Professional Builder, Kolade reiterated the need for time management stating that,”Procrastination is the thief of time. Whatever you have to do today, do it immediately as there might not be the luxury of time to do it tomorrow.
The speaker went further,”The expectation of todays world is rapidly changing from what it used to be, therefore stress management is very important. He advised the graduands to take good care of their health as it is said in the popular parlance”Health is Wealth”.
In his remark, Professor Timothy A. Anake Dean, College of Science and Technology lauded the guest lecturer for finding time to grace the occasion and mentor the graduands.
Faculty members presents were HOD Physics, Prof Usikalu, HOD Architecture, Prof Oluwatayo, HOD Biochemistry, Prof Afolabi, HOD Biology, Prof Oranusi, and HOD Building Prof Fagbanle.
Others were HOD Chemistry, Prof Olugbuyiro, HOD CIS Prof, Oladipupo, HOD Estate, Prof Ajibola, HOD Mathematics, Prof Iyase, and other staffers of the faculty.
The conspicuously optimistic and energetic politician, Kolade maintained that,”In every challenge lies opportunities for those who are willing to apply the principle of wealth creation to sail through the professional world.
