The leadership of Alumni Group of Great Technicians led by her Helmsman, Engr. Sanjo Kanmi has yesterday, May 10, visited their Alma Mater, Government Technical College Oyo and donated items worth multi millions, which were purchased by the group for the usage of students and staffs of the college, to advance the cause of the citadel of learning.

According to a report made available to the newsmen, early today, in Ibadan, by the General-Secretary of the group, Honourable Kazeem Alimi among the items donated were12 Nos Maker boards, 2 Nos Sewing Machines, 12 Nos Duster, 2 Packs of Marker and Refill inks and 4 Boxes of A4 Papers.

Those who represented the the leader of the group, Engr Kanmi-Jones, were Hon. Kazeem Alimi – General Secretary, Mr Adebanji Babayanju – Financial Secretary, Engr. Adeola Adeoshun – Social Welfare Secretary, Mr Tunde Akande – Member, and Mr Olayinka Olabode – Member.

During the visit, the group met one of the old students, who is also a staff, and HOD of Electrical Deparment, Mrs Omotoso. She introduced the Principal, Mr. Olaniyi T. A and three Vice Principals-The VP Academics, VP Admin and VP Research, respectively.

The Principal, Mr Olaniyi T.A welcomed the group with ecstasy us and accorded them red carpet reception.

Hon. Kazeem Alimi, who delivered a keynote address on behalf of our group, Chairman Engr. Sanjo Kanmi Jones reminisced that their group was established in less than two years, precisely in August 2020. He continued, “And with our mindset and determination to give back to ourselves and give back to our Alma mater, we have succeeded in those two areas with today’s delivery of items to this great citadel of learning.

Hon. Kazeem Alimi also lauded the determination of the group’s Chairman, all other executives and members, towards ensuring they work on two major aims of the alumni group which are,”To give back to ourselves and to give back to our Alma mater”.

“This was done because we have a bold and very transparent leader who has focus. He emphasized.

Kazeem encouraged students populace to always remember Government Technical College Oyo as their foundation and root to their success after their Technical education.


All other four members of the team respectively delivered a motivational speeches to charge the students to be more focused, dedicated and hard working in their endeavours, to have good life history and better experiences.

The speakers advised students to always have targeted goals for their respective futures so as to make it in life. This will drive them to the best position in their carrier in the nearest future.


In their respective vote of thanks, the Male President,, Master Oluwawamiwale and the
Female President, Miss Oluwabunmi Olabode appreciated the donation and described it as rare gesture. And promised to emulate the act after their Technical education.


The school Principal, Mr Olaniyi T.A in his closing remarks implored students to see the quality of the people who came to represent their group as a reward of hardworking, focus, steadfastness and determination during their days in the great citadel of knowledge.

He advised the students to take after the responsible alumniwho are now in a better position in life and now giving back to their alma mater.”This is an example of being courageous, focused and determined. He stated.

He advised the students to ensure they join the Alumni group after their sojourn in the school, to participate in the type of the programme.


Formal handing over of all the items was done by Hon. Kazeem Alimi, The General secretary of the group on behalf of the group Chairman Engr. Sanjo Kanmi Jones who is residing in United Kingdom.
Group photograph followed with staffs and students and the group inspected some of the departments, to find out what they are lacking in some these departments for future attentions.
