Barely a week to the 2023 general election, former Secretary to Oyo State Government and the Senatorial Aspirant in Oyo South under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC), Alhaji Abdul-Waheed Akin Olajide was welcomed with mammoth crowd on Saturday February 18, in Sobaloju Compound, Isale Ijebu Area, Oja-Oba, in Ibadan.

While welcoming Akin Olajide, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress  (APC) in Ward 3, Ibadan South West Local Government, Abideen Adewale, thanked God for Akin Olajide.”This meeting is held as scheduled. This is our election. It is not a party vote. Tinubu wants to liberate us. Let us support him. Those contesting against Tinubu are the ones that are exploiting Nigerians. Let all concentrate our vote for APC. Tinubu is fighting for us, let us support him. Olajide is a Statesman, he accommodates everybody.

In his remarks, APC Leader in ward 3, Baba Bili Subar, highlighted that PDP is disintegrating in Oyo State. So, let’s canvass for all factional PDP members to vote Tinubu, Folarin and other APC candidates. I will convene a meeting with factional PDP members and other opposition parties to support Tinubu, Folarin and others. I was one of the people that formed a coalition with Seyi Makinde, he betrayed us. When Tinubu went to Imo, the Mammoth crowd welcomed him. PDP governors were there as well. Let’s work tirelessly for Tinubu and other candidates to emerge, so that they would be regarded to our ward as the ward of Great Men. Alhaji Akin Olajide is highly intelligent, let’s all win our wards for him. He has contributed immensely to the development of our compound and the ward in general.

Ward 3 Women Leader in Ibadan South West LG, Alhaja Sadia, noted that Akin Olajide came here because of us since he doesn’t want our votes to shrink. I implore all residents of this compound, irrespective of their party to vote APC because of Akin Olajide since he has been trying for this compound and its residents since inception. He is our helper, whenever we need his assistance he does it. Either our children need government work or facing challenges we rush to Olajide’s house. For the sake of God and his Prophet, vote APC because of Olajide to appreciate his efforts on us”, she pleaded.

While Addressing the congregants, APC Local Government Youth Leader in Ibadan South West Local Government, Comrade Abass Oladimeji, appreciated Akin Olajide and other leaders.”We’re highly delighted with your presence. The Women Leader has said it all. She said our vote for APC is for Akin Olajide. He has been giving back to this compound and society at large. Our existence as a progressive is because of Olajide and Hon Kehinde Subar. They have really done well. What they have done for the youths and the aged in this compound cannot be undermined. During this electioneering period, we will vote for the party of Olajide and Subaru. When our former chairman was praying, he requested for federal appointment for Olajide and if Subar also get a federal appointment as well, we will be benefiting much more than what we have been benefiting from them before. We never see any opposition party members in this compound that people can say they’re benefiting from. By this weekend, we should not split our votes. We should vote for Tinubu and other legislators such as Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli and Hon Saheed Akinade Fijabi. By March 11, we should also vote Senator Teslim Folarin as Oyo State Governor and Hon Tolani Adigun as Honourable member representing Ibadan South West Constituency I,  because Tinubu and Folarin must have majority members in the federal and state house respectively. So that it will be easier for them to implement any policy they formulated. We can witness when Olajide was SSG under Governor Ajimobi. He really tried to maintain and promote peace in the Oyo State House of Assembly. Let’s enlighten our people both old and young on how to vote for APC so that their votes will be counted.

In his remarks, Alhaji Akin Olajide noted that,”Someone might be doing something that he won’t know what he is doing. Only a bastard will vote against his father. Atiku has nothing to offer us other than to sell us. He spearheaded the privatisation of NEPA and the likes. He is using the money. During the last dispensation, his secretary sent a mail to the United States that if he (Atiku) didn’t win, funding of America University of Nigeria would be inadequate. When Obasanjo chased him out of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu offered him a Presidential Ticket under the platform of Action Congress(AC) in 2007 and he later betrayed Tinubu. Person should know that Atiku did not deserve our support. Tinubu’s achievements are countless. He helped Ladoja to reclaim his mandate. If you did not want to vote Tinubu who do you expect to help the Yoruba race. Peter Obi and Tinubu both served their states for 8 years, Tinubu has built a large team of followers and future leaders. His achievements in Lagos and across the country are indispensable while Obi has built nothing not to talk of achievement. If we remove Tinubu’s effort and contributions, Ladoja will not return as Oyo State Governor when he was impeached.

“Tinubu mobilized a team of lawyers such as Osinbajo, Fashola and others, in order to ensure Ladoja reclaims his mandate. If other political leaders love their followers like Tinubu, they would have been achievers. If you did not vote for Tinubu, how would you expect Yoruba to have a say on national issue. Atiku and Obi did not have Yoruba as their running mates. So, who do you expect to help Yorubas. Our destiny is in our hands. If we don’t want to vote for Tinubu because of God, let’s vote for Tinubu because of ourselves and our children. A President is greater  than 3 Governors. This will help us very well.

Olajide appealed to those that were protesting against Muslim-Muslim ticket to consider big picture and vote Tinubu.”Accord, SDP, NNDP and more than thirty percent of PDP members in Oyo state will vote for Tinubu. Oyo Governor also thanked APC governors for supporting Tinubu.

“Second reason why I come here is that some people are saying after Tinubu they won’t vote again. You should all vote for Distinguished Senator Teslim Folarin as Oyo Governor.’Folarin Must Win’. It would not be nice to win the 3 senatorial seats and lose governorship seats. Whether you like Folarin or not you must vote for him because he is our standard-bearer. Once he wins, he will not abandon APC members. We will all benefit from his government. A governor is greater than 5 senators. When I was the Secretary to Oyo State Government, I signed over one thousand appointment letters. Governor is closer to us than the President. We should not create unnecessary enmity. So, let’s canvass and vote for Teslim Folarin. Please, let’s avoid over voting. Stay away from election manipulation. Let us learn from the Osun poll between Oyetola and Adeleke.

Olajide promised to always be available to render supports to the people and he gave financial supports to the congregants for refreshments.
