Cutting the Posthumous, 100th, Birthday Anniversary’s Cake of Baba L.L. Ali.

Nigerian Institution of Surveyor(NIS) has held 5th Annual/ First Memorial Lecture cum Posthumous Birthday of The Late Veteran Surveyor in Nigeria, Pa(Hadji) Lasisi Lasupo Iyanda Ali today at NIS’ Plaza, off Custom/Federal Secretariat Road, in Ibadan, Oyo-State.

Late Pa LL Ali was an erudite surveying scholar, front line surveyor and legendary professional in the country. He was born on Thursday August 16, 1921 to Oroye family of Oke-Ola Ibadan and died on September 1, 2020.

Pa Ali was a patron to Muslim Students Society of Nigeria(MSSN), UCH, Ibadan, Survey Students Association, Poly Ibadan Chapter, Oke Odo Club, Kudeti, Ibadan among several others. Baba LL Ali when he was alive, immensely, contributed to the development and growth of Surveying profession in Nigeria and beyond.

The Legendary Surveyor, Baba LL Ali, during his life time, supported many socio religious programmes and actively contributed to the cause of humanity.

While giving his lecture, the Guest Speaker at the event, Prof. Nelson Olabanji Fashina, emphasised, “Agitation for Secession: The Roles of Youth in Emerging Nigeria.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Yusuf Akande extolled the virtues of the late patriarch and encouraged youth to remain committed to the unity and progress of Nigeria as a nation.

While, respectfully giving their remarks, the event’s Special Guest of Honour, Surv(Dr) Kayode Oluwamotemi, Organising Committee’s Chairman, Surv Bola Adedigba, and Secretary Organising Committee, Surv Oladipo Adenike Fatimah lauded baba’s contributions to surveying profession and to the progress of Ibadan Land, Oyo-State and Nigeria at large.

This successful bipedal program, 5th Annual/First Memorial Lecture of the late Surveying Pundit, Baba LL Ali is the brainchild of NIS, Oyo-State Chapter under able chairmanship of Surv(Prince) Femi Kobiowu. Other Executive Members are Surv Oyetola Taiwo, Vice Chairman, Surv DE Adefabi, Secretary, Surv AE Oladipo, Assistant Secretary, Surv KA Akinsola, Treasurer, Surv OO Oyeleke, Financial Secretary, Surv OA Egberinde, PRO, Surv AL Saka, Council Representative, Surv AS Ajayi, Internal Auditor and Surv Ola Shiyanbola, Ex-Officio.

The Members, LL Ali 5th Annual/First Memorial Lecture’s Committee are Surv Bola Adedigba, Chairman, Surv Egberinde Olatunji, Member, Surv Ajadi Ajibade Yemi, Member, Surv Taiwo Kafayat Omowumi, Member, Surv Salau Adedayo Titilade, Member, and Surv Oladipo Adenike Fatimah, Secretary.

Surveyor General of Oyo-State, Surv AS Alaba described Late Baba LL Ali as a seasoned surveying professional that will be forever in missed in the history of Yoruba Land, Nigeria and Africa at large.
