n a highly contested election, Comrade Nurudeen Temilola Yusuf, Esq, popularly known as “Optimist” has emerged as the National Secretary of theĀ Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association Nigeria(MWFAAN) for 2023/2024 term.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Optimist, a student union veteran and an esteemed figure in the African legal profession.
MWFAAN, a prominent representation of Nigeria’s young leaders, conducted a closely watched election to fill the position of National Secretary and others. Optimist’s declaration as the National Secretary-elect signifies a new chapter in the association’s leadership.
In his role as National Secretary, Yusuf will shoulder several vital responsibilities. These include maintaining records, data, and contacts of MWFAAN members, affiliates, and trustees, as well as providing secretariat services at meetings. He will be tasked with filing annual returns and records with regulatory bodies like the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and organizations and hosting association meetings. Additionally, he will collaborate closely with the President and Council members to advance MWFAAN’s mission and objectives.
Optimist has pledged to uphold the principles of corporate governance within MWFAAN, emphasizing accountability, transparency, fairness, and responsibility. He intends to bring innovation and effectiveness to his role, ensuring that the association thrives under his secretaryship.
