Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice-president; Ahmed Lawan, senate president; Aderemi Olaniyan, Oyo deputy governor were in attendance as Teslim Folarin, three-term senator representing Oyo central buried his wife, Angela Folarin, OYOINSGHT.COM reported.
The deceased, 48 and lawyer, died on January 28, 2022 in the family London home.
Tearful Folarin
From their Kobiowu GRA, Iyaganku home, where the family first held a lying-in-state for the late lawyer to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bodija Extension and Eternal Home, Motunde, AFIJIO, Folarin, his son—Faisal and other family members were all in tears. At a point Folarin and Faisal, both in white clothes, were comforting each other.
Funeral ‘Unites’ Oyo APC Chieftains
Like last Friday when all of them gathered in Ogbomoso for the burial of their late leader, former governor Adebayo Akala, major gladiators who have not been seen together in many months came together to sympathize publicly with Folarin. While Adebayo Adelabu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 election; Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports, senators AbdulFatai Buhari and Kola Balogun, Oyo North and South respectively, Joseph Tegbe; house of representatives’ members like Akeem Adeyemi, Akin Alabi, Musiliu Akinremi, Tolu Sadipe, Shina Peller and others joined from the Church, others like Adeolu Akande, chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC; Zacch Adedeji, director general of the Nigeria Sugar Development Commission; Yunus Akintunde, senatorial aspirant in Oyo central; Isiaka Kolawole and Idris Adeoye, secretary member of the APC Elders’ Advisory Council; Musiliu Obanikoro and Segun Odebunmi, three-term reps member joined the lawmaker from his house.
Massive attendance
Another major high point of the event was the massive attendance by APC members, especially those who are eyeing positions in the 2023 elections. They blocked the Ojoo-Iwo road expressway for close to two hours. Before the remains of Angela was brought to Eternal Homes, Motunde, a 30-minutes from Ibadan, they had gathered there.
Osinbajo and Olaniyan
Only God knows what is between the duo. If there is anything Olaniyan has gained in the Seyi Makinde administration, it is vice-president Yemi Osinbajo. He has always been saddled with receiving the VP whenever he comes to town.
As early as 8 am, Olaniyan had arrived the Ibadan airport, waiting for Nigeria’s number 2 man.
Olaniyan would later lead Osinbajo and senate president Lawan to the venue.
Catholic and Time
The officiating priests at the event we’re time conscious.
Makinde’s ‘Men’
Apart from Olaniyan, Makinde’s deputy, others who represented him were secretary to Oyo State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun; Head of Service of Oyo, Amidat Ololade Agboola; and Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi.
Eternal Home Indeed
Located on the border of Oyo and Ibadan at Motunde town of AFIJIO local government, Eternal Home, a private cemetery, is actually its names. It has state of the art facilities, including a hall that can accommodate 200 guests. Angela’s mausoleum, which has just been built is just a few meters walk from the main entrance. It is located just very close to the tomb of Adewale Adeeyo, billionaire friend of Aliko Dangote and Deji Adeleke, who died last year and was buried in Islamic way. Many mourners moved round to sight the names on the tombs and also take pictures.
