In a strategic effort to consolidate the progressive movement in Oyo State, key media stakeholders and intellectual leaders from across the seven geopolitical zones of the state, on the platform of Oyo APC Online, convened on Saturday, July 12, at the Omo Ajorosun Club in Agodi Area, in Ibadan.
The stalwarts’ core objectives are to reposition the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a formidable opposition capable of addressing the challenges posed by the maladministration of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under Governor Seyi Makinde and dislodge the PDP-led administration come 2027.

Aare Saheed Olayiwola Lekan Raji, the meeting’s convener, emphasised the urgency of the gathering, pointing out that the party must recalibrate its strategies to counter Makinde’s anti-people policies, which have been detrimental to the populace. He called for a robust reward system within the APC to enhance party effectiveness and assure its landslide victory.

Oloye Abiola Oyeyemi, in his own remarks, shared insights into the group’s historical context, discussing its challenges and successes and underscoring how the actions and inactions of its members have shaped the party’s current standing. He expressed confidence that unity of purpose would empower the APC to displace the PDP in the upcoming elections.
Chief Banji Banji addressed concerns regarding disunity among aspirants for the 2027 gubernatorial ticket. He urged the group to foster an environment of respect and collaboration, discouraging any attacks on party aspirants, regardless of their backgrounds or political affiliations.
