Have you ever wondered why you have not fulfilled all of your childhood ambitions? Can you even remember the number of times you changed your mind on what you want to become? Did you get married at the age you planned? What about your present profession, was that your initial plan? Did your academic pursuit move as imagined? Do not ponder too much or wonder too long, let’s dive.

This tragicomedy called life cannot be so understood by the human mind. It is so unpredictable and cannot be well planned or executed as planned. This does not mean that we should not make plans but kindly note that they must be flexible enough to accommodate contingencies and disappointment. The more rigid you make your dreams and plans, the more difficult you will make your life.

When life throws you sweetness, store up for the tragic days. When the tragic days arrive, do not despair or pull into your shell. Life is like the two sides of a coin; you cannot predict what side will be flipped over per time. However, keep your head up and prepare your mind for the best and the worst – from life situations and nature to its people. When life happens to you, do not beat yourself down. In the same vein, when life happens to others, do not mock, ridicule or speak ill of them. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people too.

Life does not usually go as planned. When it throws you pepper, make a sweet beef, cow leg, assorted or catfish pepper soup out of it. If it throws you bricks, map out strategies to build a cottage out of it and if it throws you lemons, kindly send me a glass of lemonade. Being creative enough to map out seasonal strategies for survival is the biggest way to stay on top of your game. Have an open mind to see opportunities in every difficulty.

When you are planning a life that cannot be planned, all you need is a 5H pencil, an eraser, lots of paper and a trash can.
