Posthumous Birthday: Legacy Forum Celebrates Late Hon Olaide Akinremi ‘Jagaban’ with Commissioning, Handover of Facilitated Health Centre at Bodija

In remembrance of the birth anniversary of the late former Ibadan North Federal Rep., Hon. Olaide Akinremi Jagaban (October 1st), the Akinremi Family Head, Chief Abideen Abiodun Akinremi, alongside Akinremi’s Think Tank and the entirety of the Akinremi Legacy Forum in Ibadan North Local Government and beyond, gathered to celebrate the life and impacts of the late lawmaker through the commissioning of a health centre project he facilitated while he represented the good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

This health centre, which is sited at the Bodija-Ojurin Muslim Community in the Inukoko area of Bodija, was one of the campaign promises made by the late Hon. Olaide Akinremi to the community while he raced to secure his second term of office. While he commenced the project immediately after resuming office for a second term, his unexpected demise led to an instant pause in the completion and equipping of the health centre.

Just as Chief Abiodun Akinremi and members of the Akinremi Think Tank had been rallying support of relevant stakeholders on several other ongoing projects, many of which have been completed (transformer installation, boreholes, classrooms, among others) and have since become useful to several communities after Hon. Olaide Akinremi’s passing, they also did the same to ensure this health centre becomes fully equipped with all necessary medical facilities to become functional and in keeping with the promise made by their late mentor.

The commissioning and handing over event which took place yesterday, 30th September 2025, had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, who in his contributions announced the immediate drilling of a borehole for the health centre, while he also promised to cater for other needs not yet captured.

Olufade also assured that the health centre will become fully operational before the middle of October 2025, with the Federal Government and State Government sponsored measles vaccination programme for children, which will commence on 6th October 2025, set to now kick off from this new health centre at Bodija-Ojurin Muslim Community.

Also present were healthcare officers from the Ibadan North Local Government Health Department alongside other stakeholders who would ensure a swift operational take-off of the health centre.

Representatives of the facilitating agency, Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), led by Engr Omotade and Barr. Ebun Alawode, were present to conduct the official handover of the health centre.

President of the Muslim Community Association, Bodija-Ojurin Imam Nurudeen Ogunmola expressed deep appreciation to Chief Abiodun Akinremi and all members of Hon. Olaide Akinremi’s Think Tank for remaining steadfast in ensuring projects left behind by their late principal get completed, noting that the fulfilment of the health centre promise made by Jagaban is a gesture the entire community is eternally grateful for, while giving assurances of the community’s cooperation in ensuring adequate monitoring and use of the health centre for the benefit of all.
