President Tinubu’s Ally, Alh Ganiyu Akeem Urges Youths to Shelve ‘Planned Protest’, Embrace Dialogue
In a bid to douse the tension ahead of the planned ‘End Bad Government’ protest scheduled for tomorrow, August 1, a close ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Oyo State, Ambassador Ganiyu Akeem Adesina has appealed to Nigerian youth to reconsider their decision and instead opt for dialogue.
Amb. Ganiyu Akeem, former Chairman of the Southwest Amalgamated APC Support Groups (AASG) and current Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Tinubu Legacy Forum (TLF), made the appeal in a statement released to the press through his media Aide, Hon. Hamzat Olalekan Hammed, today in Ibadan.
Chief Adesina acknowledged the constitutional right to protest but cautioned against the potential risks and complications, citing past experiences. He urged the youths to give the government a chance to address their grievances through dialogue, praising President Tinubu as a pragmatic leader who listens and empathises with the people.
Alh. Adesina highlighted some of the President’s recent actions, including the signing of the #70,000 minimum wage bill, subsidisation of food grains, and approval of selling crude oil to local refineries in local currency, as evidence of his commitment to addressing the country’s challenges.
Adesina also appealed to traditional rulers, elders, religious leaders, parents, and guardians to sensitize the youths on the need for peace and prosperity. He ended with a call to unity, urging the people to support the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and avoid vandalism and destruction of properties.
