PRIMARIES: “Concerned Progressive Youth” Condemns Imposition of Candidate in Ibadan Northeast, Southeast Federal Consistency.
Concerned Progressive Youths in Ibadan Northwest Local Government Area of Oyo-State has expressed displeasure over the usual zoning of Ibadan Northeast and Southeast Federal Consistency House of Representatives’ ticket to Ibadan Southwest Local Government.
Concerned Progressive Youths, headquartered, in Ibadan Northwest Local Government is a socio-political organization whose main objective is promoting the interest of credible candidates of APC as party and its membership. It cuts across all 11 wards in the local government.
The Chairman of the group, Comrade Adeyanju Abimbola said, in his message, while lamenting what he described as an attempt of imposition, that their memberships are purely progressives and they always abide by the rules and regulations of APC. “Our members are purely progressives and we always abide by the rules and regulations of our great party, APC. Meanwhile, we’re ever ready to resist any form of imposition or cheating, especially, this time around.
Abimbola fumed and stated that,”By close examination of the zoning of Federal House of Representatives’ ticket between the two local governments in the federal constituency, namely, Ibadan Northwest and Southwest since advent of democracy in 1999 and 8th Assembly, we discovered that ibadan Northwest Local Government has been marginalized while the party leadership has always considered Ibadan Southwest Local Government for the Federal House of Representatives’ ticket.
“The reason why party leadership of APC should consider Ibadan Northwest this time around are analysed below; Names of Honourable Members of Federal House of Representatives, their local government and tenure in office, since 1999 till date:
1)Hon Babs Oduyoye spent 8 years from Southwest Local Government 1999-2007
2) Hon Folake Olunloyo spent 4years from Southwest Local Government 2007-2011
3)Hon Saheed Fijabi spent 8years from Southwest Local Government 2011-2019
4) Gov Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, also as governor, from Southwest LGA spent 8years between 2011-2019
5) The incumbent House of Representatives Member from PDP is also from Southwest.
The Chairman of the association maintained that,”With the above-listed analysis, we, all, unanimously, resolved that the leadership of APC in the state should consider the aspirants from Ibadan Northwest Local Government as we all know that; ‘ injustice to one, is an injustice to all, and anybody who calls for equity must come out with clean hands.
He lamented that they have been hearing from different quarters that inability of Reps committee from Abuja to conduct House of Representatives’ election on 26th of May, 2022, as scheduled, is to meet the head of a powerful political power bloc in the state and perfect plans to impose Hon. Folake Osinowo as a consensus candidate.
He maintained that,”This is against the rules and regulations of the party. We think all members of the party have the right to vote and be voted for. We would implore all relevant stakeholders to intervene and give all aspirants freedom to vote so as to prevent failure.
Abimbola advised the leadership of APC to avoid future political failures that may arise as a result of the rumoured Imposition.
“Wholeheartedly, we want to assure the present leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state of our unrelenting supports, that geared towards victory, come 2023, especially, if credible candidates are considered.” He submitted.
