Prince Ajibola Afonja Lives On, We Will Sustain, Uphold His Legacies—Sen Yunus Akintunde

Encomiums and messages of condolence are pouring in to the families and associates of Prince Ajibola Afonja, who died recently within the facility of the University Teaching Hospital, UCH Ibadan, where he was receiving treatment.

While receiving visitors who came to commiserate with him as a close associate and prominent Oyo kinsman to Prince Ajibola Afonja, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, the Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, assured sympathisers that the great legacies and virtues of the late philanthropist and businessman would be sustained.

“No doubt Prince Ajibola left a great size of shoe that was quite difficult to fill but not impossible to wear; fortunately, he impacted immensely in several lives, thereby replicating himself before his demise.

“I will only implore our people to emulate the great virtues of commitment to humanity, excellent service delivery, integrity, humility, passion for hard work, resilience, benevolence, kindness, determination, and dedication for which Prince Afonja was known and replicate such towards humanity; it is only then that the great vacuum he left behind can be filled.”.

“Prince Afonja was a great man, undoubtedly a star, and a rare personality who will be greatly missed by several people across the globe, especially among us, his people from Oyo town, where he impacted greatly beyond measure.

“Unknown to many people, during his lifetime, Prince Afonja had a positive impact on several Oyo indigenes, and many of them are doing well in their various endeavours and enterprises, also impacting society by following in his footsteps.

“He was our mentor and unarguably a very prominent Oyo kinsman who was a beacon of hope, and he will feel great in life beyond with his legacies sustained.

“In his wisdom, Prince Ajibola was not only great at doing well for himself alone, but he replicated his kind among his direct biological children, family members, younger folks, business associates, and political associates who are proud to appreciate his contributions towards their training and development, making giant strides like him in their various endeavours.

“If only by such endearing grace of benevolence, individuals, including my humble self, have no choice but to aim towards pursuits of greater influence on humanity by increasing our efforts in that regard, and that is what will be our priorities in leading the vanguard to surpass expectations.

“We are already working out various programmes and action plans that will activate the sustainability of those legacies to celebrate the life and times of the great leader and father of modern Oyo town.”

“Apart from naming monumental projects, facilities, and places after him, honours quite deserving, which we shall vigorously pursue with the government at the state and national levels, yearly symposiums, awards, and grants in his honour to indigenes to promote values and support will be more pronounced by several of us who hitherto have been silently emulating our great leader.”

“Before now, it has always been the case that the younger elephant can’t blow the husk simultaneously with the mother elephant, but now that our leader has gone to rest, he has handed the baton to us, and we can’t afford to disappoint or fail him on expectations.”

“We thank the Almighty Allah for the great life he lived, quite worthy of emulation, and we pray that the Almighty God will grant him Aljannah Fridaus.
