Rape : Nigeria Youth Congress Tasks Oyo Govt , Says They Must Be Proactive Over Security Challenges .
Oyo State Chapter of Nigeria Youth Congress led by Comrade AbdulFatai Adeyemi popularly known Legacy has earlier today made a peaceful “Walk Against Rape” to the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State ( BCOS) and demanded for justice for the rape victims and ,also, the association tasked the state government to curb the issues of security challenges in the state .
In his statement, Legacy expressed a total displeasure over nonchalant attitudes of the governor of Oyo- State, Commissioner of Police and other principal helmsmen whose responsibilities are to secure the lives and properties of the good people of Oyo State.
The association specifically, demanded justice for Barakat Bello, Grace and other victims of rape, whose lives were cut short untimely.
As the spoke person of the association, Adeyemi warned that the continuous silence of the present day Oyo state government means betrayal of trust to the entire youths in the state and if the government fails to curb the rising crime waves in the state, Oyo state youth will not hesitate to initiate non- stop powerful protests until government take proper and well expected steps .
“In the same veins and as part of our struggles to curtail the scourge of rape, defilement, and murdering of our generational mothers, the leadership of the Nigerian Youths Congress also visited AKANRAN POLICE divisional headquarter where a culprit was detained for defiling 12 year old girl which is conspiracy against Humanity”, Adeyemi said .
“The DPO emphasised that culprit will not go unpunished and stated that the case is about to be transfered to the State CID for further investigation”, Legacy stated .
