Former Chairman of all Local Government Areas and LCDA’s in Ibadan Land, Honourable Lekan Afuye has dispelled a rumour, as reported by an online medium, that the immediate past First Lady of Oyo State, Chief(Dr) Florence Ajimobi is making move to thwart one Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu’s chairmanship aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo State.
Afuye described former First Lady, Dr Ajimobi’s courtesy visits on former Governor Rashidi Ladoja and Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, recently as a good move in good direction. “You mischief-makers, you’ve failed, already, on this, and you will continue to fail. Dr Florence Ajimobi has recovered from the grief of her husband’s death and God almighty will always grant her fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. She’s our mother and matriarch of ‘Abiola Ajimobi’ family. So, she has all rights to preserve Ajimobi’s legacy and we’re fully with her on that.
“Her visit to the two living governors after coming out of mourning mood shows that she’s not a bitter one but a respecter of elders”, Afuye reiterated.
Lekan Afuye frowned at the libellous reportage that “the purpose of Dr Ajimobi’s meeting with her husband’s predecessors was to sell the candidature of one Engr. Yekeen Abolade as next State Chairman of the party”, and described it as poor journalistic work ever.
“Firstly, I know that the reportage is a yellow journalism but still I contacted the team of my trained information managers, PR executives and strategic communicators. They’ve assessed and re assessed the news story and their professional conclusion is that the news item is put together to smear the good image of our Mother, Dr Mrs Florence Ajimobi and as well as to demoralise her from fostering peace and unity among the progressive family, in the state.
“Never, you, rumour mongers and mischief-makers are too small to intimidate her just because she’s preserving our Principal, Abiola Ajimobi’s Legacies and fostering unity among the progressive family, in the state. She’s our integrous matriarch and heroine of womenfolk who always strives to serve humanity and preserve progressive ethos.
“Our first hand information has revealed where the rumour came from but still, we will not stop at that. We will use our wide contacts to get to the roots of the matter and take appropriate legal actions, at least, to teach the scandal mongers, who are politically specialised in injuring the reputation of amiable personalities like that of our Matriarch, Dr(Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, a lesson and set the record straight”,Afuye assured.
