Reading Habits !! By Ogunrinola Samuel Folayemi.

Reading habits should be inculcated in our students. Most of the students do write note in the class but when they get home they won’t have time to read it; they prefer watching film, visiting friends, going to party, and some do assist their parents to hawk goods… And when this note is not being read by the students, it may lead to the poor performance of the students in the exam.

SOLUTION

  1. Encourage the school management to create a space for reading in the school timetable and the class teachers will go to the classes to supervise and to ensure that the students are reading not playing
  2. School Libraries should be renovated and must be conducive for reading
  3. Orientation should be given to students on how to read, the reason why they need to read and how to achieve their aims and objectives of becoming Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Engineer, Surveyor etc.
  4. Government can enlighten parents to be encouraging their wards to be reading at home too

Conclusion
Some parents don’t fancy education and they believe in examination malpractice (Orijo) before their children can pass any examination. Their children good performance will erase this bad believe and idea from their mind, when the teachers encourage and force them to read in the school and by so doing the teachers, students and parents will all be happy when they see their children doing well.
