Self-employed, Yet Unemployed | By ‘Jide Adeyemi.

It’s pretty “cool” to be an entrepreneur. Yes, I agreed, and I don’t blame speakers who told you to do “something on your own.”

Being an entrepreneur is only for some. And that’s OK. Like any other job, it may not be a good fit for you. That doesn’t make you dumb. That means you will be successful in whatever other endeavour you choose.

Being an entrepreneur doesn’t make you morally or intellectually superior to people with “regular 9-5″ jobs.

Being a qualified doctor does not mean you have the prerequisite skills to run a hospital.

Only some people can bear making no penny for three months and running bills.

We all can’t manage the failure of not winning any out of 7 pitches, even when we think we were the best or that we had the right solution to a client’s problem. Yet, they went with another firm and even gave our ideas to our competitor to execute in some cases.

Some need help to cope with the fact that their cool idea and plans mean nothing to an investor, and their business plan does not mean a bank will give them the facility.

You and your family might consume that fantastic product you have done visibility studies on. Think about it.

Drop the obsession with the title MD, CEO, COO or Chief Responsibility Officer that is responsible for NOTHING. You can move up the ladder to any of these titles by adding value wherever you find yourself.

Many with 9-5 jobs earn much better than many entrepreneurs.
Many think the sexy career choice of the moment- entrepreneurship will give them control of their time and enjoy freedom. Still, they will soon realize they have just been inducted into the “no time to watch time club” when they recognize entrepreneurship is a 24/7 job.

If what you are doing is not working as an entrepreneur, review your LinkedIn profile and go in search of a job in your area of passion before your self-employment degenerates into unemployment.

If your entrepreneurship journey needs to be fixed, review your CV, go out there, chase your dream in an organization that is working, and plan a comeback.
