Friday is not only historical about the life of Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, Okanlomo of Ibadanland as he clocked 60 years on the land of the living, but it is also epochal.
No doubt, it is a life well spent. Six decades of outstanding achievements as a family man, Muslim devout, lawmaker, statesman and philanthropist.
As part of activities put in place to mark his 60th birthday, a prayer Session was held at the precinct mosque built in his Jericho palatial mansion.
A renowned Islamic scholar from prestigious University of Ibadan, Prof. Kamil Oloso and Dr. Akindele led the prayer session.
Prof. Oloso said he wasn’t surprised with consciousness of Sen Akanbi as a son Babasale Musulumi in Ibadan.
As a way of appreciating his impact in their lives, eleven religious groups who sent their delegates to commemorate the 60th birthday anniversary with distinguished Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi were; Yusrulahi, Ansaru-deen, NASFAT, QAREEB, NACOMYO, Ahmadiya 1, Ahmadiya 2, Libra Gold, Nawarudeen, Istijabar and Cooperate
After the prayer session, Senator Akanbi with his family proceeded to Bodija Muslim Community, Mosque to thank almighty Allah for his endless blessings in his life. Chief Imam of Bodija Muslim Community, Mosque, Alhaji Afuye prayed to Allaah to grant Sen. Akanbi many more years.
Soji Akanbi was flanked by his wife, Alhaja Zikrat Afolake Akanbi, CEO, Libragold Travels and Tours and Al-furqan Travels and Tours, his sons; Engr Idris Akanbi, CEO Trifecta, Faruq Akanbi, Chartered Accountant with PWC and Barrister Malik Akanbi, legal practitioner working with B&I Law Firm, Ibadan.
The younger brother to Sen Akanbi, Mr. Leke Akanbi and his childhood friend, Engr Kazeem Yomi Lekan Salami and others were present.
Sen. Akanbi’s wife, Alhaja Zikrat Afolake described her husband as a genuine family man and responsible leader. She stated that Akanbi is the best husband and father, in the world.
Alhaja Akanbi further thanked friends, fans and family for joining her and the sons, in celebrating her husband, Sen. Akanbi, as he clocks 6 Decades on mother earth.
In his birthday wishes, the All Progressives Congress (APC) major presidential aspirant and National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, felicitated with Sen. Akanbi, the immediate Past Senator who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the 8th Senate, on the occasion of his birthday celebration
Tinubu described Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, as an experienced Lawmaker, grassroot Politician and a great Philanthropist.
Asiwaju Tinubu extolled Akanbi,“A warm felicitation to you, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, on your new age, a grassroot politician, committed democrat and experienced lawmaker. Senator Akanbi has made remarkable contributions to Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
“He served with all he is imbued with, whether as a member of the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1993; and during his sojourn in the 8th Senate between 2015 and 2019.
“A known philanthropist, Senator Akanbi formed the Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF), which over the years has helped the needy and vulnerable in Ibadanland and beyond. As Okanlomo of Ibadanland, his traditional title, he has also demonstrated that he is at home within the traditional institution and has played his part creditably.
“My prayer on this occasion of your birthday is that, Almighty Allah grant you many more years, good health, renewed strength and vitality to continue to serve our people as meritorious as you have always done,” Tinubu added.
Sen. Akanbi’s army of followers, teeming supporters, APC chieftains, eminent Nigerians among others, within and outside Oyo-State took turn to celebrate the enigma, Akanbi on the occasion of his this year birthday.
