Seyi Makinde: He Who Will Be Disgraced Must Have Been Honoured – ‘Eni Aye Ye Nii Te’ | By Sola Abegunde

On Sunday, the 9th of November, 2025, I was surprised to see that Governor Seyi Makinde and some dignitaries were in Igboora in  Ibarapa Central Local Government the previous day being Saturday, the 8th of November 2025.

I got this information through a Facebook post by the Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin on Sunday the 9th of November.

Governor Makinde, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state and many other dignatories were in Igboora for the burial of Pa. Adepoju, father of Anthony Adepoju, the Hon member representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

When I saw Debo Ogundoyin’s post, I had a surge of serious indignance.

Why would someone not have a modicum of shame at least?

You will wonder whether I think it is wrong to attend burial programs or to post pictures from such a program.

No. That is not my position.

It is the prayers of every parents to be buried properly by successful children after living a good life and I congratulate Hon Adepoju on that.

May Baba’s soul continue to rest in piece.

My problem with Debo Ogundoyin’s Facebook post on that occasion is the fact that he ought to be somber and if anyone asked him to post such pictures, he ought to have been circumspect.

On the day Governor Makinde, the other dignatories and perhaps, Debo Ogundoyin left Ibadan for Igboora to attend the burial program, the fastest and simple route would have been through Eleyele-Ido-Eruwa.

From Eleyele to New Eruwa is just 57 kilometers, less than an hour drive on a good road and from New Eruwa, they could have gotten to Igboora in less than 10 minutes considering the kind of vehicles they drove and the advantages of the Governor’s convoy.

Did they passe through the Eleyele-Ido-Eruwa road on Saturday on their way to Igboora or did they go through the longer route and passed through the Moniya-Iseyin-Ado-Awaye-Maya-Igboora route?

I bet they did.

They did, because, even them, despite the brand new vehicles they traveled in, would at least wanted to avoid taking pain killers after going through the extremely terrible Eleyele-Ido-Eruwa road.

In plain truth, Governor Seyi Makinde and his entourage fled from the death trap the Ido-Eruwa road has become and they snuk into Igboora through Iseyin and I say shame on all of them for that.

I was in Eruwa on Saturday and when I saw Debo Ogundoyin’s Facebook post on Sunday, I said, so, these people could sneak into Ibarapa and we won’t know until we saw a Facebook post the following day?

Those who should feel the biggest shame are Debo Ogundoyin and all of those who call themselves Governor Seyi Makinde’s appointees from Ibarapa.

They should be covering their faces in utter shame.

I am not surprised that Governor Makinde didn’t make headlines from that visit.

On a good day, the Press would have been washed but what could he have said?

Did he not say that he shouldn’t be allowed into Eruwa if he didn’t complete the Ido-Eruwa road within 11 months when he came for the Coronation of Samuel Adebayo Adegbola?

How much time is left of the 11 months he promised on that day?

From the day he made that rather empty promise till now, not a single stone have been moved.

Even the purported approval of funds for some projects he announced recently is incongruous and not specific about the Ido-Eruwa road.

So, why won’t the Governor avoid passing through Eruwa?

I am surprised he didn’t deem it fit to at least consider paying a courtesy visit to his dummy, the illegal Eleruwa he placed on the throne.

That one is on his own now and I don’t pity him.

Governor Makinde has used him and forgotten about him.

He is more concerned about more pressing concerns.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP National Convention which is now seriously threatened is his main concern and I’m sure that if there is anything Governor Makinde needed to do in Eruwa for the success of that Convention on Saturday, he would have been in Eruwa even if it would require of him to be lowered down through a parachute.

After all, the Governor is an athlete who enjoys running marathons all over the world.

He just completed another marathon in far away Brussels in Belgium.

He was running around the world while Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state was burning as a result of his invasion of people’s property by his Government in the name of a Circular road corridor.

Before now, I had the urge to write about Governor Makinde who I considered as sharing some striking similarities with Emperor Nero.

In the thick of the hues and cries by the affected residents of the Circular road, in the midst of the uncertainties surrounding the PDP National Convention, Governor Makinde still had the courage or do I call it audacity to be posting pictures of himself and his daughter after completing a marathon race in far away Belgium!

Only Nero could have done that.

I think I know why Governor Makinde posted those pictures.

The day the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered a judgement with devastating negative consequences for his faction of the PDP, pictures of Governor Makinde, in China, surfaced the following day.

It was followed up by the pictures from Belgium.

The posting of those pictures were deliberate.

It was meant to ease tension and project the Governor as someone who was unperturbed about the series of setbacks from the polity.

Unfortunately for the Governor, that picture from Belgium was wrongly timed and it passed a very negative message to the discerning public.

As at the time the pictures were released, the agitations by the affected residents of the Circular road corridor had reached a breaking point.

Those pictures backfired big time.

How on earth could you be having the kind of situation you are having at the Circular road, as the Governor of a state and yet, you still thought it was an appropriate time for you to be rubbing your ego?

Now, the residents are on the streets shouting ‘ Oole’, ‘ Oole’, calling out the Governor and his compatriot, Seye Famojuro.

Will he still oblige us with more pictures of his marathon races all over the world or there are no more races to run?

I saw an interesting video where an obviously frustrated man was marching on the Governor’s picture and I wonder, how time changes!

The same Governor Seyi Makinde of whom they used to chorus ‘ Seyi e daa’?

There was an old man in Eruwa, now of blessed memory.

We used to call him ‘ Baba ‘Manu’.

If you told him that someone suffered a disgrace at a particular time, he would tell you such a person must have been honored before he suffered a disgrace.

To him, those who suffered disgrace must have overstretched their luck. ( Eni aye ye nii te).

I remember vividly well. There was a time when you have to be extra prepared if you were going to criticize Governor Makinde on Radio or on any other platforms.

His rabbid supporters would come at you and call you all manner of names.

Most especially, the Civil servants and Pensioners.

To them, Governor Makinde was a saint just because they claimed he was paying their salaries and Pensions.

Even if you told them that Governor Makinde is doing them no favor by paying their salaries and Pensions, they didn’t care.

If you told them that the Governor has killed Local Government Administraton, they didn’t care.

What mattered most is their salaries and Pensions.

If you pointed out to them that Governor Makinde had committed the state and the 33 Local Governments to monumental debts, they wouldn’t want to hear anything.

The billions of Naira wasted on a glorified streetlights project called Light Up Oyo and its failures fell on stone deaf ears.

The wastages of billions of Naira to build Bus terminals meant nothing to them.

They will defend the Governor and even called the APC evil.

I have been called several names by his official and unofficial lickspittles.

I think the Governor missed it as a result of this perceived cult following.

Unfortunately, he forgot that there is nothing as fickle as public opinion.

Only God knows how many of his rather rabbid supporters that are now caught in the disaster he has visited on the residents of the Circular road.

I remember a song we used to sing on campaign grounds during the Social Democratic Party, SDP and the National Republican Convention, NRC era.

The lyrics goes thus: ‘ talabukun ba di alabuku, lowo yin naa lo ti wa’. ( If a man once blessed and honored suddenly becomes dishonored, he should check himself).

When I saw different videos where residents were protesting and calling Governor Makinde and Seye Famojuro all manner of names yesterday, another thought that crept to my mind was, is the Governor and Seye missing Auxiliary?

Would Auxiliary have sat down and watch his beloved Governor being abused like he is presently being dragged?

God is wonderful and I give Him praises for the fact that there is no one like the former Chairman of the Parks Management System, PMS around to add insults on the injuries already inflicted on the residents of the Circular road.

God has taken care of such a terrible situation before now by turning them against themselves.

I have said it before and I will repeat it for emphasis sake, only God Almighty will fight for the hapless residents of the Circular road.

The information some of us have concerning that place is not pleasant at all but God is greater than anyone and He has His way of interceding in the affairs of men.

I am closely watching unfolding events regarding the PDP National Convention.

Of particular interests to me is the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the National Judicial Council, NJC.

I learned that the Hon. Justice Akintola extended his interlocutory order mandating the INEC and the PDP to go ahead with the Convention regardless of the judgment of the Federal High Court stopping same.

I am also aware that journalists were reportedly barred from covering the proceedings of the Court yesterday just as some interested Party have also reportedly submitted a petition to the NJC against the Hon. Justice Akintola.

I have kept asking myself, is it really worth all these?

I have made my opinion known regarding the judgment of the Federal High Court and the interlocutory order of the Oyo state High Court.

In INEC’s shoes, I would give precedent to the judgment of a court over and above an interlocutory order of a court of coordinate jurisdiction.

For me, only the Court of Appeal could reverse the judgment given by the Federal High Court.

I have grabbed my popcorn and I will definitely enjoy the show.

Sola Abegunde.
