Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic Calendar is a time for reflection and spiritual exercise. As Muslim faithful fast, they equally put in more efforts to follow the teachings of Islam, intensify efforts in the remembrance of Allah as they mingle with fellow Muslims.
To serve spirituality to the soul, influential members of the society organize Ramadan lectures for the benefit of the people in their locality and environment. Just like a good movie parades star actors, Clerics for Ramadan Lectures have varying degrees of influence.
Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, an aspirant for Oyo Central Senatorial Seat has again shown that beyond politics, he takes the spiritual welfare of his society very seriously. This he did by organizing the 2nd Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen Ramadan lecture which held at Labamba Hotel in Oyo, where he brought highly sought-after clerics to his community. Muslim faithful at the Ramadan lecture, recognizing that what Faozey pulled off is no mere feat, showed their gratitude by showing up in their numbers.
Sheik Muyideen Ajani Bello, one of Nigeria’s respected and most sought after Islamic clerics, was the keynote speaker at the Ramadan lecture, expectedly, he took charge of the event of the day, as he spoke on the benefits of the holy period in his address.
While extolling the values every Muslim faithful should adhere to in the holy month, he also noted that, Oyo Community who are beneficiaries of Ramadan lecture are favored by God, as not many people who desire to benefit from Ramadan Lectures have this opportunity which Almighty Allah has made possible through Engr Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen.
“whenever I see politicians who are selfless like this son of ours, Engr Faozey, I’m am always grateful to Almighty Allah. Because it is the joy of every Islamic Cleric to relate and reckon with politicians who are God fearing and who prioritize the spiritual welfare of the people. This young man today has blessed hundreds of people here seated, May God honor him and grant his heart desires” he prayed.
The host of the Event Engr Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, who was visibly impressed and excited at the turn out of the event said before he became a politician, he has always been a staunch Muslim, thus he knows the values of Ramadan and the gains of holding a lecture for people.
“A politician wants to get into public office to serve the people, however, we must not forget that service to people should not only be political. We must endeavor to impact positively on the spiritual lives of the people in our community, we have to identify other ways of service and compliment it with politics.”
“ Today’s lecture will go a long way to enrich our lives, we won’t leave this place the same way we came. I want to promise you that annually, Ramadan lectures will be hosted by me and I’ll continue to contribute to my people’s wholistic wellness “ he said.
The Ramadan lecture was well attended by dignitaries such as Alhaji Daud Igiogun, Alhaji Mainasara – Amiru Mumineen of Oyo, The Oyo Mesi among several others.
