State of The Nation: Nigerian Youth! It is Your Time, Deal With It !! By Otunba Eric Ayoola .

PMB’s government had initiated many pro youth programs even before ENDSARS was a twinkle in the eyes of the initiators. Alas, detractors, hard at work, always ensured that the positive is always buried under and overwhelmed by their negative narratives .

Let the youth shun the nay sayers and see the progress and benefits and opportunities in their country.

Buhari is but just one man. He will leave in 2023, having done his bit for his father land.

No matter how many years God gives him from today henceforth, it is safe to say that he cannot and will not outlive the vast majority of our youth . So step up and do good by your country my younger brothers and sisters.

Youth protests ( on legitimate grounds) on the street or youth looting ( and other forms of youth criminality which is rampant in our society) will not by themselves bring about change .

We the older generation did our bit. We did not resolve it all, but we moved the country forward to the point that you were even able to protest in the first place, having successfully returned the country to democratic rule.

We have given many of you sound and good education which has allowed you to hold your own in countries around the world. We were party to the production of doctors, lawyers, activist and successful entrepreneurs out of you, so surely no objective and appreciative youth would consider the older generation an abject failure.

But as in all society and in all facet of life, human society is always work in progress.

If we could not provide 24 hour electricity, we have trained you to be engineers and technicians, so go sort it out.

If we cannot provide you with 24 hours security, you are the fit and agile and able bodied men and women , so fix it. The security service is predominantly made up of those below 40 years of age. So our security is in your hands.

If our medical system is bad, well, we have educated you to be doctors and nurses and medical personnel, so go do something about it.

Nigeria has a young population with about 60% youth composition.. So, this is your Nigeria, this is your time. The state of the nation is in your hands.

And if this is about being in power, well the power is in your hands a hundred percent.

With your numerical strength you can actually remove and replace any politician in your ward, federal constituency , senatorial district, state governors and the President at a general election. All that you need to do is to register to vote and then vote come election day. So what are you waiting for Nigerian youth?

Enough moaning and complaining and get effective and start to work.

In 20 years time when your own children ask you what you did, your response has to go beyond ” I protested at Lekki and Alausa ” or ” I “liberated” palliatives from warehouses”

God bless you. God bless us. God bless Nigeria.
