SUBDUE THE EARTH.
It’s another beautiful moment with you dear reader. How do you do?
This is the second to the last dimension of the 5 fold mandate we started looking into some weeks ago. The first three dimensions state – be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth and now we shall consider the fourth which is to ‘subdue the earth’.
Though ‘to subdue’ may appear somehow tyrannical in nature, it is not. Thesaurus suggested other words that can assist us to comprehend the concept better. When we say subdue, Thesaurus suggested other words like restrain, suppress, control, discipline and tame among others.
Now let’s get to it – subdue the earth – we are to restrain whatever living thing (an individual or a group of people) and animals that want to cause chaos or disrupt the peace of the well-organised system GOD has put in place on earth. We should suppress (control, curb, tame or stop) any thought, feeling or activity that is capable of jeopardizing people’s lives, peace, properties and our immediate environment.
We are to discipline whoever or whatever entity that wants to frustrate the peace and wellness of the earth; and the earth here is referring to everything that makes up the earth – living things (humans and animals), non-living things and inanimate objects. This discipline must begin with us (self discipline) then to other members of our family, to schools, community, religious and social groups respectively.
Please note that GOD did not give us this mandate as an allowance to trample on people’s rights, peace and possessions. Invariably, we are to be our brothers’ keeper, enhance peace and orderliness and ensure that the earth is conducive to live in, comfortable enough to enable our fruitfulness, multiplication and replenishment as analysed in the first three (3) dimensions of this divine mandate.
