SW-NW 2023: Group Drums Support for Zoning of APC Reps’ Ticket to Ibadan Northwest LG, States Reasons
CONCERNED PROGRESSIVE YOUTH SUPPORTS ZONING OF APC FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TICKET TO IBADAN NORTHWEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
Concerned Progressives Youths in Ibadan Northwest Local Government has drummed support for the zoning of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Member, House of Representatives’ ticket of the Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency to Ibadan Northwest Local Government.
Concerned Progressives Youths is a sociopolitical organization whose main objective is promoting the interest of credible candidates of APC, as a political party, and the group’s membership cuts across all 11 wards of the local government.
The Chairman of the group, Mr Adeyanju Abimbola stated this and gave reasons in a release issued and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
In his message, Adeyanju stated that their memberships are purely progressives and always abide by the rules and regulations of All Progressives Congress.
The group expressed displeasure over the usual zoning of Federal House of Representatives’ ticket to Ibadan Southwest Local Government.
Adeyanju stated that,”By close examination of the zoning of Federal House of Representatives’ ticket between the local governments in the federal Constituency. For example, Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency since dvent of democracy in 1999 and 8th Assembly, we discovered that Ibadan Northwest Local Government has been marginalised while the party leadership has always considered Ibadan Southwest Local Government for the federal house of Representatives ticket.
The group called for equity and said that,”The reason why party leadership of APC should consider Ibadan Northwest this time around are analysed below. Names of Honourable Members of Federal House of Representatives, their local governments and tenure in office since 1999 till date stated below;
1)Hon Babs Oduyoye spent 8years from Southwest Local Government 1999-2007
2) Hon Folake Olunloyo spent 4years from Southwest Local Government 2007-2011
3)Hon Saheed Fijabi spent 8years from Southwest Local Government 2011-2019
4) The incumbent House of Representatives member from PDP is also from Southwest.
The group also maintained that the late former Governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi who spent 8years as the helmsman of the state between 2011-2019 is also from Southwest Local Government.
The group maintained that,”With the above listed analysis, we all resolve that the leadership of APC in the state should consider the aspirant from Ibadan Northwest local government as we all know that;’Injustice to one is Injustice to all’ and anybody who calls for equity must come with clean hands”.
The group assured the present leadership of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state, under the Chairmanship of Isaac Omodewu their unrelenting supports and victory come 2023 poll, if credible candidates are considered.
