Yoruba adage says,“Atari Ajanaku Ki Se Eru Omode”- A kid has no wherewithal to bear elephant’s head. Of course, Oyo 2023 gubernatorial project requires a highly experienced, strategic and tactical politician, to dislodge this current directionless administration and enthrone a purposeful one, to make life better for the citizens and indigenes of the state. So, when duty calls, experience counts.
The Great Greek Philosopher, Plato said and I quote, in an ideal state, philosopher must be the ruler. Yes, Oyo is an ideal state and Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin is the said philosopher-king, who is perfectly suitable to govern the state come 2023.
When it has been scholastically established that progressivism is the politics in favour of new ideas, modern methods and positive change. Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin is a core progressive-minded politician, by all standards, from the beginning, and till now. Though, he started as a progressive-minded politician in People’s Democratic Party (PDP), then, and later navigated towards the All Progressives Congress(APC), where he is currently holding sway as third term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from Oyo Central District, all to the glory of God and supports of his Benefactor, late Senator Abiola Ajimobi. SAA! Adieu to the legendary leader of all times.
As we all know, Oyo State remains the pacesetter state and we must set a new pace come 2023 by supporting and electing Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin to govern the state. “Beenin, Eniti Omo Oju Ogun Ni Npa Obi Nin Ire”, the best man for the job remains TKF, himself.
Unequivocally, the good people of Oyo State deserve quality governance and people-centered mode of leadership which can only be efficiently offered by the effective Helmsman, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin.
TKF is tested and trusted. He is a bridge-builder between the new generation and old generation. Yes, “OMO FOLARIN” has perfect understanding of ‘Business of Leadership and Good Governance’.
Of course, TKF is able and agile, capable and courageous, accessible and affable. Senator Folarin has firm belief in the party leadership. He holds party members in high esteem. He has total respect for elders. He adores women hundred percent and he loves youth ‘unlimitedly’. Above all, Teslim Folarin always puts God and Humanity first, in his dealings. ‘People, people and people’ is his watchword and this is conspicuous in the lives of many people whom he has helped to secure jobs in military service, civil service, business world and other fields of endeavours, since his foray into politics.
“Teslim Folarin” is a silent philanthropist and merciful benefactor that his good deeds and charity know no bound. Despite the fact that he holds the members of the ‘Fourth Estate of The Realm – Pressmen’ in high esteem, Folarin is among those few Nigerian politicians who do not go out with camera while helping masses except in some few compelling instances. He places ‘Humanity over Publicity’. Oooh, no wonder, his good deeds are well known ‘off camera’, far more than how they are known in the media space.
Folarin! We need you. The good people of Oyo state need your purposeful and pro-people leadership and helmsmanship.
Meanwhile, let’s cast a glance at Senator Teslim Folarin’s provenance:
Early life and education.
Folarin is a son of Alhaji and Alhaja Hamzat Folarin. He stemmed from Baale House in Oja Igbo area of Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of Oyo State. Folarin is the Head (Mogaji) of his family House and a high ranked traditional Chief in Ibadanland.
Folarin attended primary school in Lagos; his secondary education was completed at Nigeria’s premier secondary school, Methodist Boys High School. Folarin holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan(UI) and a diploma degree from Harvard University, USA. He spent some years gathering valuable civil service experience in the UK, including management roles at the Department of Trade, in London before returning to Nigeria in 2002. Folarin performed his obligatory NYSC tenure in Kaduna and joined politics thereafter.
Folarin contested and won the senatorial seat to represent Oyo Central in 2003 at the age of 39 years on the platform of the PDP and was re-elected for a second term in 2007 on the platform of the same PDP. Folarin remains the only legislator in Oyo State who has served two terms at the Senate. At the Senate, he was appointed Leader of the Senate. Folarin also served on the Senate Committee on Business and Rules, Marines and Transport although his particular interests were in education, power supply and water resources. As the Leader of the Senate, he led debates on all Executives Bills and sponsored several private Bills himself. These included the Insurance Act, Armed Forces Pension Act and several others.
Senator Folarin defected to All Progressive Congress(APC) in December 2017. Folarin was elected as the All Progressive Congress Oyo central senatorial candidate on September, 2018.
Senator Folarin won the senatorial position in the 2019 Oyo central senatorial district election defeating the then incumbent Senator, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu and other candidates. He is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content in the 9th Senate. He also sits on several other committees including National Intelligence, INEC, Interparliamentary, Constitutional Review, Finance, Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and Airforce.
Personal life:
Folarin is happily married to Barr. Angela Folarin and blessed with beautiful children. He is a genuine family man and responsible leader.
