The Abimbola Adekanmbi I Know !! By Prince Adéwálé Apọ́nmádẹ̀.

Today, April 5, is the birthday of former Deputy Chief of Staff(DCoS) and Finance Commissioner in Oyo-State, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi popularly known as Bimadek.

Prince Adéwálé Apọ́nmádẹ̀, a stalwart of APC and ICT expert, from Akínyẹlé Constituency-I wrote a piece to extol Bimadek’s virtues, celebrate his birthday and pay homage to whom, Adekanmbi, he described with many exemplary qualities.

Let’s go there:

“THE ABIMBOLA ADEKANMBI I KNOW.

Abimbola Adekanmbi (Bimadek) was the Deputy Chief of staff to the late former Governor of Oyo state, Senator Isiak Abiola Ajimobi (May his soul rest in peace).
I met him first at Iseyin in 2012 during the camping and training of YES-O (Youth Empowerment Scheme – Oyo) Cadets. I was the star boy of the OBS (Orientation Broadcasting Station). He came down to our studio on this faithful day looking for that radio boy, Aponmade. He met me, and was marvelled at my stature which did not represent my baritone voice on air. He said he only came to encourage me. Since that time, he had been involved in my growth in many ways, from getting me employed to giving me printing contracts, to even nominating me for a political appointment in 2018. He is indeed a good man in all ramifications.

These are what he represents:

  1. Humility: The man Adekanmbi is humble to a fault. Not until we grew our relationship to the point of brothers, he never called me by name. Despite the age gap, the qualifications, the political acumen, and his position, he still remained humble to me that some referred to as a trash.
  2. Honesty: If you’re dealing with Bimadek in any way, once he gives his word, you can be rest assured that it’s as good as done. He will not say what he will not do.
  3. Intelligence: The man Adekanmbi is very smart and intelligent. You couldn’t even work as Deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance under Ajimobi if you’re not overly smart and intelligent. His intelligence had even paved way for him internationally as a Finance Consultant for many Multinational Companies. It is often said that “if it’s broken, call Abim.
  4. Accommodating: Even as Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Abimbola Adekanmbi kept an open door. Even civil servants testified to his being welcoming and accommodating. He’s not the type that will shut their doors on people once they’re in position of authority.
  5. Generosity : His generosity is out of this world. He gives without taking camera out.
Abimbola is someone that will just call you on a Friday, and give you money to take care of yourself. Though he doesn’t like it when someone becomes a perpetual pain in the ass.
  6. Humaneness: Humanity runs in his blood. I remember the day he saw a woman crying in the secretariat. He came down from his jeep and called the woman to ask what was wrong. The woman told him that her child was in UCH, and she needed to buy drug worth of #90,000. Adekanmbi just told her to give his secretary (Mrs Fatanmi) the details of her hospitalized child as well as the list of the drug. He asked one of his staff to investigate the matter and cost the drug. After the investigation, it was revealed that the child was truly hospitalized, and cost of drug was actually #80,000. Adekanmbi called the woman and gave her #100,000. That is just one of many that he did.
He never want to see anyone sad. He’s someone that will always feel your pain before you say it.
  7. Loving and being jovial: Don’t let his hard look deceive you. Adekanmbi can be very loving and jovial. With him there will never be a boring moment.

The above “Omoluabi” attributes that Adekanmbi displays are what made me be glued to him as a younger brother, a loyal fan, a diligent supporter, and a mentee.

If Abimbola is given the opportunity to lead in any Political Position, I’m sure we will all enjoy and be proud of him.
