Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT) has mourned the passing of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Honourable Isaac Omodewu.

In his condolence message, Hon. Omodewu expressed shock over the demise of the party helmsman. “Indeed, I am sad”, he said.

BOT wrote:“It is with profound shock and immeasurable sorrow that I received the tragic news of the sudden passing of Hon. Isaac Omodewu, the esteemed Party Chairman of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC). This unexpected loss has reverberated across the political landscape, leaving a void that will be deeply felt for years to come.

Hon. Isaac Omodewu was not just a leader; he was a beacon of hope, a unifying force, and a steadfast pillar upon which the Oyo State APC was built and strengthened. His commitment to the ideals and principles of our great party was unwavering, and his leadership was marked by a rare combination of wisdom, humility, and a deep-seated passion for the betterment of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Throughout his political career, Hon. Omodewu distinguished himself as a man of integrity and vision. His tenure as a State Commissioner during the administration of the late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi was marked by significant contributions to the development of Oyo State, particularly in the grassroots communities where his impact was most profoundly felt. As the State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Omodewu demonstrated exemplary leadership, steering the party through challenging times with a steady hand and a clear vision for the future.”

Reflecting on Hon. Omodewu’s life with deep admiration, Barr. Tijani noted that his legacy is one of service, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to the common good. “Hon. Omodewu was more than a political leader; he was a mentor and a guide to many of us. His passing is not just a loss to his family and the APC, but to the entire state of Oyo and the nation. He was a man who lived his life in service to others, always putting the needs of the people above his.

“The void left by Hon. Omodewu’s passing cannot be easily filled. His contributions to the growth and consolidation of the APC in Oyo State were monumental, and his ability to navigate the complexities of political leadership with grace and integrity set him apart as a truly exceptional leader. He played his politics with a rare combination of dedication, decorum, and good conscience, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, both within and outside the party.

I extend my deepest condolences to the immediate family of Hon. Omodewu, his friends, associates, and the entire community of Otu, where he was a beloved figure. I also extend my sympathies to the APC family, the government, and the people of Oyo State, who have lost a true son and a leader of immense value. In this moment of grief, we must take solace in the knowledge that Hon. Omodewu lived a life dedicated to the service of others. His legacy of selfless leadership will continue to inspire us all.”

Hon. Omodewu’s death, which occurred in the early hours of today (Monday), is a devastating blow not only to Oyo State but to the entire progressive family across Nigeria. His passing is a stark reminder of the transient nature of life, but also of the enduring impact that one dedicated individual can have on the lives of many.

The loss of Hon. Omodewu is a profound one, not just because of the role he played in the APC, but because of the person he was—a man of great political maturity, purposeful leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of Oyo State. The remarkable contributions he made, and the gaps left behind by his passing, cannot and will not be forgotten. They are woven into the very fabric of our party’s history and the broader narrative of Oyo State’s development.

“As we mourn the sudden passing of our State Party Chairman, we must also celebrate the life he lived—a life marked by dedication, service, and an unrelenting pursuit of the greater good. May the soul of Hon. Isaac Omodewu rest in perfect peace, and may God grant his family, loved ones, and all who mourn him the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” Barr. Tijani concluded.
