Transition: On Father’s Posthumous Birthday, Oluwaseun Adegbola Pens Glowing Tribute.

Today, February 11,2022, is Dad’s 1st posthumous birthday. It would have been his 70th too. We had a huge plan for this date. You wanted a fair celebration that was to begin with a visit to the deprived of us with support materials and note of goodwill. It was just a perfect reflection of who you are and taught us to be. You wanted the good of all and ever ready to play your part in it. I envy your humanity but nothing beat your huge parental sacrifice.

The past few months without you have been tough to bear. No one to regularly call to check on how I am fairing and give me update on events and things around. Sometimes, maybe severally, I took these calls for granted thinking it will keep coming forever but now I know exactly what it means. It is worth more than rubies and gold. A good father is his son only true hero. When a great man dies, for years the light he leaves behind him, lies on the paths of men. My brothers and I are grateful for all you do for us. Father didn’t tell us how to live. He lived and let us watch him do it.

There is no remedy for your grief. But we will take solace in a life well spent and that what we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.

I missed you beyond words can captured. Thank you for your live of genuine parental sacrifice. Happy 70th birthday in heaven, Dad. Not a second goes by when I don’t think about you dad. I love you so much and will always miss you.

Rest on Dad.
