TRENDS: Tope Alabi’s “Aboru Aboye”, My Reservations | Monsuru Adeyemo “Socrates”.

Tope Alabi’s Aboru Aboye song and people’s reactions – Personally, I refused to poke nose into the matters because I have limited knowledge on Christianity, and in my faith – Islam, you can not just understand many things until you have deep knowledge of “Kitab” and “Sunnah. Many things go beyond expertise on “Comparative Theologies and Contemporary Ideologies”.

Meanwhile, let us stop implicating ourselves, our cultures and our languages. Pagans of Israel had been using the Hebrew name of God – Jehovah before the advent of Judaism, pagans of Rome had been using the Latin Name of God – Deus before the advent of Christianity and the pagans of Makkah had been using the Arabic name of God – Allah before the advent of Islam. Still, these great faiths of Abrahamic monotheism, respectively, adopted Hebrew, Latin and Arabic names of the supreme being in each language to, technically, mean “God”. When God remains the same before, now and forever, the pre-Judaism Jehovah, pre-Christianity Deus and pre-Islam Allah(during the Jahilayyah period) are not the same as the Jehovah, Dei and Allah being called upon today in each of these great Abrahamic faiths. Respectively, God has revealed scriptures to aid people’s perfect understanding of Him.

While I am still respecting boundaries, I just want us to know that being Afrocentric does not negate being theocentric. No to Heresy but let us stop implicating our cultures and our languages that mean no harm. Being black is not a crime.

Linguistically, “Ebo” means sacrifice; “Aboru Aboye means “Being accepted as sacrifice by God”. So, to my highly respected Christian religious scholars and theologians, please, what does sacrifice mean in Christianity, and what is viewpoint of Christianity on Tope Alabi calling herself “Accepted Sacrifice”, before we nail or hail her? Thank you.
