Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters during the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Honourable Bimbo Kolade has commiserated with KO Olatunji’s family, Ibadan Land and All Progressives Congress (APC) over the passage of the Distinguished Ibadan Statesman, Baba Karu Oladele Olatunji.
Pa Olatunji died Friday morning at 92.
The Federal Commissioner representing Oyo-State in the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Kolade in a condolence message issued in Fiditi on yesterday, described the death of the progressive leader and distinguished Ibadan statesman as a monumental loss to the progressive family, legal profession, Ibadan Land, and Oyo state in general.
In his words,”I had personal relationship with baba. He invited me to his house early this year and he was charging me to ensure we do things to hold APC and sustain the legacy of my Oga, late Governor Abiola Ajimobi. Also, he was very particular about my senatorial ambition and he prayed for my success. Indeed, I will miss Baba’s counsel.
“I identify with the family and my good brother, Gboyega. I pray God comfort the family. May He grant them fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and repose Baba’s Soul in paradise,” he submitted.
A legal luminary and community leader, Chief Karimu Oladele ‘Latunji was born on 23rd September, 1930. He attended N.A. Olubadan School for his elementary education from 1939-1946 before moving to Ibadan Grammar School, for his secondary education from 1949-1954.
His quest for quality education, according to an opinion on Nigerian Tribune, further landed him at Holborn College of Law and Commerce in London from 1958-1960 and was at the same time an external student of the University of London in 1960. The astute, learned fellow was called to the English bar in July 1962 and enrolled at the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the 4th October, 1962. As a Barrister and Solicitor, Chief Latunji had a stint in legal practice from 1962-1963 with Chief Ayo Rosiji and Co and Chief Kola Daisi and Co. Today, Chief K.O. Latunji is a senior partner of Chief KO. Latunji and Co. Solicitors and Advocate and Notary Public, a firm of private legal practitioners based in Ibadan.
