Tribute: Chief Kolapo Kola-Daisi Mourns, Reflects on Olubadan, Ọba Lekan Balogun’s Legacy

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Oloye Idris Kolapo Kola-Daisi, has mourned the passing of the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun CFR (Alli Okunmade II).

The seasoned financial expert, Oloye Kola-Daisi, wrote,”With a deep sense of sadness, I join sons and daughters of Ibadan to mourn the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Senator Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Ali-Iwo (Alli Okunmade II), our Olubadan of Ibadan.

Kabiesi was ever-welcoming, an attribute I will miss about him the most. He championed the ethos of omoluabi and embraced all who crossed his path, including myself, and this was not because of his duty as the King, but rather because of his admirable persona of warmth and kindness. I was fortunate to have experienced his fatherly guidance and unwavering support during my senatorial campaign, where his sage advice always proved timely.

His lifelong dedication to the greater cause of Ibadan, manifested through tireless service and visionary leadership, has left an indelible mark on our beloved city.

I condole with Kabiesi’s immediate family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, and the people of Ibadanland. We have truly lost a towering figure and father, whose legacy of compassion, unity, and selflessness will stay with us for a lifetime.

Kabiesi o! Omo Aliwo jogi oro; Omo Apewaajoye; Ibadan omo o te gbongbo ona somi suurusu; Pepe lowu nse nile Aro; Sun re o Kabiesi. May God grant repose to the soul of our late monarch. Amen

Signed:
Idris Kolapo Kola-Daisi.
