Tribute: Dr Adebisi Was A Great Teacher, Politician And Administrator – Prof Akande.
Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande has described the former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Dr Busari Adebisi, who passed on recently as a great teacher, politician and administrator.
In a condolence message released in Ibadan,the Oyo State capital,Professor Akande noted that Dr Adebisi was his lecturer in the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan where he distinguished himself as one of the greatest political theorists of his time.
He described Dr Adebisi as a teacher who related as a father with his students. “He was always calm and ready to offer listening ears to our sometimes infantile postulations”,he noted.
“He was never an arm-chair philosopher. He always insisted on the social responsibility of the Political Scientist to participate in politics and contribute to the development of society. He enriched classroom discussions with his first-hand experience in party politics and government.
“Baba Adebisi walked his talk when he served as Commissioner for Education,Secretary to the State Government and Executive Chairman of the state’s primary education board at different times.
“I was privileged to learn under his feet, once again, when I served as Secretary to the Transition Committee of the newly elected government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi in 2011. Baba served as the Chairman of the committee.
“The state has lost a lover and advocate of developmental politics. The gap he left behind will be difficult to fill. I pray for the repose of his soul. I pray that God grants the illustrious Adebisi family of Idikan, Ibadan, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Adekande prayed.
