Tribute: Remembering Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, My Mentor, Teacher And Father !! By Bimbo Kolade.
“One year ago, one of Nigeria’s tallest Political Irokos and a glowing candle of resplendent beauty that brought light into many hearts and homes was put out by the wind. Senator Abiola Ajimobi passed on.
He was not just a passage of an icon, but a grievous loss to the nation.
What moves through us was a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but gradually, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
Angels do walk the earth as mortals and I am privileged to have met one who also stooped to mentor me to ensure that I fly on the wings of angels. Today is no ordinary day because calmly as you lived, mentored and led, with the same calm you have departed to the celestial to join your Maker.
Your departure has left a gaping hole that will take a long while to fill.; needless to say, a vacuum has been left. Consoling however, were the works which you left with us. You have made us richer in knowledge and prouder to have been your disciples. For all these and many more, your memory and impact shall linger.
We are glad that you left a remarkable legacy that generations unborn would be able to painlessly access. May the earth be better for the work you did, for the seeds you planted and for the people you led.
Your death is a testimony to the mortality of man, a confirmation of the vain life we all live, a rude reminder of the debt we all owe, a proof that no one will get out of life alive.
Isiaq Abiola Adeyemi Akanji omo Ajimobi, sleep on in the bosom of your Maker and may Almighty Allah grant you Aljannah Firdaus.
Bimbo Kolade.”
