Prosperous moment across Southwestern Nigeria, as TNM Media held its 2nd convocation ceremony on Thursday, May 12, at The Academy Hall, Old Kingsway Buiding, Opposite Radio Nigeria, Dugbe, Ibadan.

In his Address, the Frontline House of Assembly Hopeful and the Provost, TNM Media Academy Alhaji AbdulRasaq AbdulGaneey (Mr GRA) noted that “today marks another red-carpet occasion in the annals of TNM Media Academy as we celebrate the second Convocation Ceremony of this prestigious Media Academy. The first Media Academy in Oyo State. Consequent upon the approval of TNM Media Academy by Oyo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BOTAVED), we have since graduated hundreds of Broadcast Journalists working in different Radio Stations across the Southwestern region of Nigeria and Kwara State. Today, another 102 students are graduating with both Basic and Advanced Certificate in Broadcasting. I am confident to tell you that many of them are already on air in some notable Radio Stations in Oyo State and beyond, while others have created niche for themselves through freelance and independent practice”.

Continuing,”Ladies and gentlemen, at TNM Media Academy, we master what we do and do what we master. That is why it is easy for any student trained under our practical and pedagogically rich curriculum to easily penetrate the industry and excel within short time. Our team of tutors are carefully recruited from the A-class media practitioners and academics around. Besides, The Academy has well-furnished studio facilities to facilitate adequate practical training relevant to the media industry. We align our training philosophy with Aristotle who once said: “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them”. We, therefore, run fully practical oriented programmes in media-allied professions like Broadcasting, Advertising, Public Speaking, Journalism and media productions. Based on our vision to provide 100% practical training in all media-allied vocations, we run bespoke programmes, especially for busy executives. We are committed to converting talents to marketable skills”,he added.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Governing Council/Advisory Board of TNM Media Academy, Alhaji Dr. L. O Salami highlighted that one should focus on one’s dream in order to make his dream become reality. Poverty ravaged my family, which inhibit me to afford Western education, initially. My father sent me to Modrasah and I later become car washer and vendor. I used the money garnered from those menial jobs to acquire Western Education. To the glory of Almighty God, I eventually become a Charted Accountant.

While addressing the Graduands, the Executive Secretary, Board for Technical & Vocational Education, Oyo State, (BOTAVED), Mrs E.C Esan Williams, highlighted that “Your talent will take you to greater height. She advised the graduands to showcase their skills. She boldly said TNM Media Academy is the first registered and approved Media Academy by the agency in the whole of Oyo State.

The Representative, Zonal Director, Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, Hajia Sherifat Koro, called for Professionalism in the field of Broadcasting. TNM products are well tutored under team of Professionals. Please, be reading NB Code in order not to jam Barbwire on air. It will guide you a lot, she advised. Mr GRA is a diligent Broadcast Journalist, whenever he is on air, you can go to bed with your eyes closed since he understands the dos and don’ts of Broadcasting to a large extent.

In attendance were Mr Seun Awodele (Oyo State FIBAN Chairman), Ambassador Romoke Ayinde (Chairman /CEO Kayrom Lee Nigeria Ltd), Temitope Falaanu (32fm), Alhaji Maruf Olabamiji Lawolesun (King FM), Afeez Mohammed Cantona (Jamz FM), among many other Veteran Broadcasters.
