After his meritorious service to the nation as Minister of Interior, Federal Republic of Nigeria, during the administration of President Muhammad Buhari, the good people of the state of Osun have trooped out enmass and welcomed their beloved son – the two term commissioner in Lagos state, the first and last two term governor of Osun state and the immediate past Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf ‘Adesoji Aremu’ Aregbesola, with pomp and pageantry – an unusual homecoming.

Prioritising people in politics and placing premium on human capital development, Ogbeni Aregbesola remains a charismatic leader of all times, and exemplary lover of people.

In one of his interviews, during the ‘ ‘unusual’ homecoming, Ogbeni Aregbesola said,”I’m an advocate of the liberation of the people. I seek the empowerment of the majority of people to live a worthy life of man in the 21st century. So, you can’t have such motivation and be able to relax.

‘The great Ogbeni’, as the black nationalist philosopher, Aregbesola is fondly called by his staunch supporters, teeming mentees, ardent loyalists and army of followers, is a born leader who knows the ways, goes the way and shows the way. His leadership model is 100% people-centric and it is totally organic.

The Oranmiyan revolution resonated as “Aregbe Nko Ire Bo Wa Efi Ara Yin Bale – Aregbe is coming with bounties and dividends, so, be confident and expectant” remains an immortal movement in the state of Osun.

Till today, the illustrious son of the state, Aregbesola still enjoyed unalloyed love and massive supports of his people, as if he has not left the helms of affairs, as governor. His bonding with people, and affections from them remain the same.

The gracious and grateful Ogbeni Aregbesola attributed his success, as Minister, to President Muhammad Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Aregbesola remains a legendary leader whose trajectory in politics and governance is worthy of being studied, to serve as reference point for budding political leaders.

At a special Jumuat service, held at Oshogbo Central Mosque, in his honour, the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, Sheikh Musa Animasaun stated that,”Rauf Aregbesola is a good Muslim who believes in Allah and he has represented Islam well, in leadership, politics and governance. He has piously glorified Allah and meritoriously served people, with his previous positions.” He extolled.

Affirming his widespread acceptance in the state, Hausa Community also declared that they have no party but Ogbeni Aregbesola is their party.

Struggles-tested comrades, revolutionary cadres, Ideological freedom fighters and others took turns to commend “RA – Fidel Rauf” and they reaffirmed their solidarity supports for the former Speaker, Students Parliament, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Ogbeni Aregbesola still maintains good rapports with traditional rulers across the state – the Oni of Ife, Adimula of Ijesha Land, Ataoja of Oshogbo and others have respectively extolled Aregbesola’s virtues and showered prayers on the former governor of the state.

Many of his political allies, including his lieutenants and protégés like former Speaker, Rt Hon. Najeem Sallam, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, Barr. Gbenga Akano, Hon. Sikiru Ayedun, Hon. Monsuru Adeyemo(Socrates), Hon. Demola Owoade(Eninwa) and several others, respectively described Ogbeni Aregbesola as an angel incarnate, blued eyed benefactor and charismatic leader of all times. They hailed the frontline panafrican Ideologue and prayed for their leader, benefactor and mentor, Ogbeni Aregbesola.

Foremost Islamic Scholars like Grand Mufti of Yoruba Land, Delta and Edo and Worldwide Ameer of Jamaatul Ta’awun Muslimeen, Sheikh Daud Imran Molaasan, Khadimu Li Muslimeen of Oyo Empire, Imam Igiogun, Alfa Oko Iya Eleko and many others described Rauf Aregbesola as a pride of Islam, pious helmsman and empathetic leader. They respectively prayed to Allah for His guidance and protection over Aregbesola, always.

Series of reception programmes were held in Osun, Oyo, Ondo and other parts of Yoruba Land for the famous son of the soil, detribalised Nigerian statesman, astute politician, notable panafricanist, seasoned administrator, unrivalled philanthropist and charismatic leader of all times, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and people massively wished him success in all of his endeavours.

In company of his amiable wife, Alhaja Sheriffat Aregbesola, his prosperous Son, Alhaji Kabir Aregbesola and his frontline political associates, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola concluded the ‘Unusual Homecoming’ with visitations to traditional rulers, religious leaders, eminent personalities, community leaders, political players and other dignitaries across the state, and Yoruba land.”Indeed, ‘Ogbeni’ is back and His Excellency is as constant as son.
