We Have Resolved to Stamp Out Rape , Sexual Related Violence From Our Society – NANS President , Danielson Akpan

“WE HAVE RESOLVED TO STAMP OUT RAPE AND SEXUAL RELATED VIOLENCE FROM OUR SOCIETY!

JUSTICE FOR UWA!!

Yesterday, I led other executive and members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS to Benin City, the Edo state capital. We arrived at midnight, held meetings all through till dawn.

Today, we went round the state to have a first hand view of the dastardly act in Benin.

I met with the SUG President and members of his executive, the students community and the University management. We then moved to the security agencies (Nigeria Police and SSS, both Edo State Command), paid a condolence visit to the family of the slain student and visited the crime scene.

Yours truly couldn’t hold back tears at the family house. Looking at the family, I knew clearly that their hope for the future will be Uwa.

I quickly contacted the newly deployed CP Johnson Kokumo to come see things for himself. He quickly obliged, so we returned to the scene together and met with the family again.

Lastly, I’ve challenged the security authority to do their job in bringing the culprit to book immediately.

Tomorrow, we shall lead a major protest on the streets of Benin and demand for justice. The rape of freedom, dignity, honour and even the life of Uwa will not go down like others.

This is certainly a demonstration for all rape victims.
