Why More Loyalists of Tinubu Want Quarrel With Aregbesola to End

More supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu want an end to the quarrel with former Minister Rauf Aregbesola, Society Now reported.

Ogbeni Aregbesola was Tinubu’s closest ally before things fell apart between them.

Insiders say intensified efforts to broker a truce between them are already on.

Those who should know disclosed topping the list of considerations for a truce are the need to put things in order ahead of the 2026 Osun state gubernatorial election and the 2027 general election.

President Tinubu will be looking to secure a second term against opposition parties bolstered by learning from the mistakes that resulted in their losses in the last general election and having a better understanding of the need to collaborate to achieve a common goal.

The Osun state Gubernatorial election is less than two years away and planning is already underway among political parties but APC in the state is still preoccupied with the supremacy tussle between the pro- Tinubu faction led by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the other camp with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as leader.

While the APC bicker and discredit its members and touted aspirants with messy in-fighting, Adeleke and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are passionately ingraining themselves with the people and building strong structures to retain the astounding victories that put the reins of political power in the state, firmly in their hands.

PDP did not just take the governorship seat from APC in Osun state, the party won the Presidential election as well as all the National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats – minus only that of the state legislator from immediate past Governor Oyetola’s base.

“The argument among an increasing number of Tinubu’s supporters is that a different approach must be adopted to get different results ahead of the Osun gubernatorial election, as well as the 2027 general election. And the option being pushed is that Tinubu ends his quarrel with Aregbesola and make all the in-fighting go away for the party to concentrate on harmonizing efforts towards desired successes” according to inside information.

Added information has it that, although the move to broker peace between Tnubu and Aregbesola is facing a huge pushback from the core of those who orchestrated the fallout and major beneficiaries of the feud – more practical politicians with conviction on the importance of numbers, alliances, and fence mending in achieving political victories are backing it.
